Default Quick compression question

I have a set of 5.7 heads that have been shaved .040 which I have no idea what compression that would make, and I want to spray a 100 shot wet on the car. Is this a bad idea? I heard that I might have to go a shade cooler plug is that right? What worries would I have and how can I make it safe?

Q: Can high compression engines utilize nitrous oxide?
A: Absolutely. High or low compression ratios can work quite suitably with nitrous oxide provided the proper balance of nitrous and fuel enrichment is maintained. Nitrous kits are used in applications from relatively low compression stock type motors to Pro-Modifieds, which often exceed 15 to 1. Generally, the higher the compression ratio, the more ignition retard, as well as higher octane fuel, is required.

wow this forum is getting about as gay as some of the others I have been to, where people will actually read and then take the time to say, omg can you search rather than just not reply or write out an answer. I really didn't want to search for who knows how long for someone with 5.7 heads saved .040 and using nitrous, that should be so easy to find huh, when I could just HOPE there is a nice knowledgable person that would be willing to help someone that didn't want to sit infront of a computer screen searching for a needle in a haystack. Sorry I wasted your time so much that you had to reply with a lame post of shouldn't you try searching....... and thank you 02ss but I know that high compression motors canuse nitrous even those that are close to 15:1 but they are stock bottom end ls1's, I just want to know if I am pushing my limits with a stock ls1? So basically just retard the timing and get some high octane gas to mix with 93 and I should be fine huh?

Wow, someone has their panties in a bunch. I took 2 seconds and pasted in " 5.7 heads shaved .040 and using nitrous" and got 1 of 10 results. WOW!

I was joking at first but now that you're all bent out of shape I thought I should show you how that little button works.

Here is a question specific post:

Yeah pretty funny how all 10 of those threads have nothing to do with what I am asking, even that one that is close to what I asked still doesn't really answer any of the questions I had unless you count a 11:1 700hp motor the same as my stock bottom end ls1. Thanks for trying though....

so tell us what your compression will be having shaved you heads that much. You should be find. You need to run tr5's or tr6's. Just toss them in at the gap you get them. Should be good to bout a 150 shot.

I would say you're still safe up to a 200 shot on a stock bottom end. Just make sure you have good gas, NGK TR6 or colder plugs and a window switch. Hopefully you have some kind of scan tool so you can watch your knock retard, at the first sign of knock get out of it and change your jetting, either cut back on the nitrous or add fuel. Good luck.

I have autotap and I will also have a maft so I will be able to change my a/f a little if needed. I figured I would be safe with a 100shot I plan on using just needed a little confidence booster I guess. Thanks to the guys that replied with substance in their posts.
