Default How do you do it?

Just wondering how everyone can run nitrous setups? Do you all just not have to pass emissions or do you take it off every time you need to get it? Bottom line... I'm insanely jealous from living in a strict *** city and just wondering how people get by with it.

You mean you can't roll in for an inspection with bald drag radials and an open exhaust?

Seriously though. Is it emissions that you think will give you a problem or local laws? I know many of NOS's kits are 50 states legal and come with EO numbers.

inspections every year here in WV, my mechanic actually compliments me on the work I keep doing to the car, he could care less about the nitrous. but if I have a turn signal burned out, HOLD EVERYTHING, that will cause problems!

It is the laws around here that would screw me over. I'd never pass the visual inspection. I'm really jealous of states where it is legal... everyone in my county has sticks up their ***

Do a hidden dry system, or if you want wet, take the solenoids off once a year, and hide the lines down in the fenderwell. That would only take an hour or so to remove anything attached to the intake tract - that is all they can do anything about! Actually, the only part they could fail you for would be the actual nozzles in the air inlet - just get another bellows (or remove the power ring if TNT) for emissions time. Tell them the solenoids are there for show - they can't do a thing about those. Oh, and make sure the bottle is out of the car - that is illegal in a lot of states as well!

I think Nitro Dave had posted pics of a hidden wet nitrous set up from NX. You should PM him about it. By the looks of it, it would deffinatly pass a visual inspection.

I guess there are benifits to living in MI, we have no emissions inspections at all. There is a foot of snow on the ground right now though

I can't even see anything on the hidden setup... not too shabby. I might have to go for that option if I think I can pull off anything. Sadly, I'm still on the fence about ordering long tubes for the car because that might not even pass.... Welcome to my world of sever pain and agony.

I'm my area of VA... we have no emissions testing either. My nitrous kit should arrive this week, the LT's and ORY will be installed after they arrive from Pacesetter as well.

Which part of VA are you from?

How exactly does your inspection process work, Sniffer test, OBDII+visual? Do independent garages do inspections? If so, I would ask a couple of mechanics about what would pass and what wouldn't before you do the exhaust. There are always gray areas, like the cats have to stay in stock configuration but if an inspector sees cats (even if moved) they will let it slide. And don't forget, money talks.

Good ol' Fairfax County where the streets overflow with bacon.

It is all 3 of those tests Independent garages do the inspections, and I've yet to run into one where the person would pass anything that wasn't perfect. I'm just gonna have to take a day to ride around and ask different people, I suppose.
