Default bottle mounting IN A FIREBIRD!

that's right, every picture i see seems to be in a camaro. im also speaking of mounting the bottle between the 2 rear seats, but in a firebird (or at least my formula) there is definetly not enough room, seems like the nitrous bottle would become my arm rest .or i'd at least be banging my elbow on the valve.

anybody have any pictures of a hand accessable (like you don't need a remote bottle opener and can reach the bottle while driving) in a t/a or formula- 98-02?

this has been bugging me, maybe if the back of the back seat is removed there maybe JUST enough room. im not installing anything but just very curious. not a big fan of the spare tire well idea either.

trade off i think. it'll either take your back seat, or go in the trunk or spare tire well. i dont think i've seen any that are quite what you're lookin for. and besides, if you're taking out the back seat, theres more than enough room, and then who cares if its an armrest. lol

im not a pro at any of this stuff, but i saw a black 2002 ta with a nitrous bottle that was set-up behind the back seat on that flat surface right before the dip of the trunk! It looked clean and mean. I dont know how visible you want it to be but it seems you would have good distance for reaching! if i find the pic ill fwrd it. i would have to say buy an opnr, and hide it in the spare tire area!

at first i did mine between the rear seats.once again,i have a camaro.but it fit good, sometimes if i was'nt careful and i cracked the throttle;i would knock my elbow a little.but the "show-off" factor was in full effect.til i got pulled over and the cop said my "wet" system was illegal(dry is legal because it sprays thru the MAF,and computer add's the extra fuel),w/ a wet kit i was tampering with A/F maps. i was pissed.now i run a remote opener.NX.its great, well worth the $$$.i think your gonna want to do the spare tire well,if possible.ive seen a few guys w/ a T/A,that had it back there.very clean IMHO.good luck.but to answer your question:it WILL fit between the rear seats.

im thinking even with the rear top part of the seat removed it won't fit, the valve will literally be ahead of the front seat backs. im thinking maybe on floor behind the passenger seat, angled up, and slightly aimed forward.

like i said, im interested in pics.

camaro's are WAY different inside, there is much more room.

* i don't care about cops, i'll throw a duffle bag over it or something.

Why not just mount it where the spare tire is?? Plenty of room in there.

im cheap- spare tire area would require a remote opener (200$), a remote mounted nitrous pressure gauge (dunno- 100$). for 300$ less i'd rather mount it within arm's reach. im not against the spare tire well, but seeing if it can be avoided.

anybody else?

Hope this helps, and I understand why you would be aiming to save 300 Dollars because that's is a sexy mod right there you are passing up

My SS and T/A sure look like they have the same room behind the rear seats and on the hump. When i get my nitrous im putting it in the tire well, but thats for hidden and legality

It's the same chasis, there shouldn't be any diffrence in room. We have a 10lb. bottle in between the rear seats of my buddies firebird with no problems. It'll fit.

This is an idea ive been thinking of if i decide to go nitrous. If someone knows this wont work, please chime in. But why not moutn it in your trunk and then run the nitrous line inside the car and along then drivers side floorboard. Then have it pop-out on the floor in front of the drivers seat just a bit. And put a valve in there. Then you should be able to just leave the main valve open at all times and control it from your seat. It is just an idea, not sure if it would work or be too dangerous though. Anyone have any info on this?

not a bad idea- probably better to make it a hard line for saftey's sake before the valve..

thanks for the responses. if anybody happens to stumble across a pic of a firebird with it mounted on the tunnel- remember to post it up.

i actually measured. from the "hump" behind the rear seat to the console it is around 20" with a little elbow room. figure the bottle is at a slight angle, so it's overall length would be shortened or about the same as it would be flat.

somebody go measure their bottle- 10#'s and 15#'s bottles.

My NX 15lb is around 27 in. at the end of the valve handle. I am looking into between the seats, for the same reasons. I really dont give a damn about hiding my stuff. They will know i have it when i purge at the track. I like the way a spray bottle looks in a car, it kinda says hey suck on that buddy. Anyways i hope i can sneak my bottle in there somehow between the seats.
I would have just gotten rid of the back seat , but i have a little JR. riding back there.

Having your bottle in plan view is not always the best idea, cops don't like it too much, and you wont have that suprize for who ever wants to race.Just mount it in the spare tire area and open the valve by hand before you spray. After the first month and the 4-7 bottles you went threw taking people for rides and wanting to race anything that lines up next to you, you will see that NOS isn't cheap to be wasting all the time and you won't need to use it on the fly

actually that is a good point. if it is in the spare tire well it would deter me from using it all of the time. i would still need a gauge to view but other than that...

still be hard to surprise people because of purging though.

oh- i THOUGHT a camaro was bigger because of various pics i've seen but obviously im wrong. never even been in a newer camaro so what the **** do i know..

thanks for the replies.
