Default WHEN TO CUT OFF MSD WINDOW SWITCH...HELP

OK Guys heres the deal, I have a 02 SS A4 with some boltons and MTI S2 Heads and X1 Cam.
MY shift points are set at 6000 in 1st gear and 6400 in the rest of the gears with the REV Limiter at 6700. Question:

When should I cutoff my Nitros with the MSD Window Switch? I want to get the best out of it so Im thinking 6200 Cutoff? First gear doesnt actually shift at 6000 it shifts more like at 6400-6500. What do u guys think/Recommend?? Any input is greatly appreciated!

Make the MSD cut off the nitrous about 100 rpm before the actual shift point rpm, so that it does not spray during a shift. That will wear out your A4 pretty quickly.

Default Paging BeardWS6!!!

Hey BeardWS6, I need to know what you have you shift points and Rev Limiter at for Nitrous...and your window switch..

Its bc Jayson at MTI tuned my S2 Heads/X1 Cam for 6100 Shift Point and 6700 Rev Limiter. My Window Switch is set at 3000 and 6000. Isnt the shift point to early and Im losing power bc the cam makes power in the upper RPM's? What is urs set at?

Tony, maybe u can help me out...

My previous shift points were 6400 and 6700 Rev Limiter..But I sent my computer back to MTI bc I was hitting the Rev Limiter in 1ST GEAR only..But they sent the computer back and set all shift points to like 6100 and 6700 Rev Limiter, with a 3000 to 6000 Window Switch...My question...I have the X1 Cam and S2 heads, arent I going to lose power bc The cam makes more power in upper RPM's? Why didnt they just lower the first gear shift points? I dont understand, they told me I had to shift as close to 6000 RPM's as possible wiht Nitrous, BUT its going to cut off at 6000 anyway with the Window Switch?

You will run a quicker ET if you shift at 6K on nitrous. Nitrous likes lower rpm, check out how a nitrous dynojet HP curve looks, there is more area under the curve in a lower rpm range when compared to an all-motor dynojet run.

For all-motor, you need to be shifting at 6600 rpm or so with your setup, but on nitrous I'd recommend 6000 rpm shift points.

Buy yourself LS1-EDIT and make two programs for yourself, one to run NA, the other for N20. Now you see why Automatics aren't really convenient, no control <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I believe my shift points are around 6200-6400. I will have to ask. My pills are 3200-6000rpms. The lower the rpm on spray the more you will get. But don`t go lower than 3000rpms-not good on motor. My stock tack has major lag. It looks like I`m shifting early but I`m not. Our cam does make good power to 6400rpms and then starts to fall. You just have to be really careful because of the spray. Revs fast! I plan on picking my car up Friday from MTI. I will ask Jayson!
