Default Building 408 For N/A Now/Nitrous Later?'s

What things do I need to make sure I do now/include in the engine, so that I will not have to go back in and redue things in the future?

tell the engine builder you plan on nitrous, I think they gap the rings a little differently, I would also say if you are 100% sure on nitrous go 11.3 to 1 cr at least maybe even more.

It depends on a few things like how much nitrous?
What fuel you planning to use?
What is the working RPM range you intend?

The car really isn't a daily driver, maybe 3 times a week, only good weather--not cold, rain, snow--not really a track car either. Just a cruiser. Haven't thought about how much nitrous yet, possibly 150-200 I would say, what do you all suggest? It would have to run on 93 octane all the time, no race gas. Haven't decided the rpm range either...

You wouldn't need to build the engine any different for that kind of use. You could go up a size on your exhaust system to compliment power on the nitrous.
Otherwise, you'd just do the usual things to set up for nitrous use.

The only time I'd gap the top ring more would be for endurance racing, or spraying a big shot for more than about 10 seconds straight.
The larger the bore diameter, the more you gap the top ring anyway. I'd just put a few thousand miles on it before you start spraying and there should be plenty of clearance in the rings.

Make sure you add a bigger fuel injector - at least 36lbs (30lbs SVO) should do ya. Get an after market fuel pump - RaceX drop should be enough. That would give both NA and spray capabilities. I would strong suggest a great tune for both. You should consider buying a tuner yourself. That way you would be able to switch programs, vice relying on a timing retarter. Bigger headers with the 408 would diffinently benefit you both NA or spraying. Make sure you put the suspension under the car to help - SFC, LCA, sway bar, etc. Rear-end???? Tranny build-up. You'll need both for NA or spray.

Navy David SS you don't think the timing tuner would work? The reason I ask is because I have one that I was planning on using with my build up.

with a 150-200, you prolly dont have to worry bout much

if you plan to spray a bigger shot, i'd put different rings in there

Thanks guys for all the input. I own HPTuners so that wouldn't be a problem. I will deffinately upgrade to a 12 bolt, go through the suspension--I need to decide what I am going to do w/ the tranny. Say I decide to run a bigger shot, like 300, what rings would I need? I would rather spend a little extra now and do a little overkill if it won't hurt anything to prevent having to go back in the engine at a later time. Thanks again for all the suggestions, especially fueling. Would a walbro not be a good pump for this?

Should I do direct port or not also? What kind of setup do you all suggest?
