Default How important is the nitros filter?

I have a N/X wet kit with pressure guage and blanket. No matter what pills I run I'm only getting about 40 hp @ wheels. There is a filter on this settup and I believe it may be my restriction.
Plan A remove it and see.
Plan B If I hear a good horror story or two I may replace filter.
????????

Ok here is my input. I have the NX wet MAf Plate system and run NO filter. DEFINATELY a sttuuupppid idea. I know the people who fill my nitrous and KNOW they run clean stuff and no junk gets in there but...... you get a solenoid stuck open.. utoh!

50 dollar insurance versus a 3,000 dollar motor.

you pick.

Thanks, a stuck solenoid does get my attention, but something is restricting
flow. I checked all fittings and even removed an elbow, and the solenoids are clicking.????

It won't hurt you to take it off and run it without for a little while.

It's hard to use the truck without it. I've got 140,k on it now. I'm not sure it can stand a real 150 hp, but it's held up to a lot of abuse so far. I will replace the filter if bad but if I run it and see no improvement without it, i'll prabably just reinstall the same filter and keep looking for my problem. There must be one somewhere, Everybody else is getting a second and a half, I get 8/10ths on a perferct run.

I have the same prob .,150 shot feels weak. removing my filter didnt help. I only gained .5 inthe 1/8th last time out. i am considering swapping solenoids with a buddy to diagnose . I run about 1100 psi. Keep us posted and ill do the same.

A filter is extremely important. Do a simple flow test and that will tell you if your system is working or not. Disconnect the air boot for the throttle body. With a full bottle 24.5lbs and bottle pressure at 1050. Spray the system( less fuel or no fuel) for 10 seconds. rewiegh the bottle, the lbs. lost should be 1.2 + lbs. If it is there is 1.2+lbs missing then there is something else wrong. If its lessthen, then we start swapping parts.
Just my thought.

Well I tried it without the filter ,no differance. I have not removed any torque managment, I wonder if that may be having some limiting affect, or If the problem is in the kit.?
