Default M6 nitrous users: Advice needed!

I have a full suspension, bolt-on car on a Nitto looking to spray using a dry kit and the car sees mostly street action from a dig....My debate is between running a 4.10 and spraying in 2nd or keeping the stock 3.42 and try spraying in 1st. I like the idea of the 4.10s because I'd have better N/A acceleration, but am wondering if 3.42s on spray would be better on the street. From what I've read, the 3.73s aren't worth the trouble/money, but if it's the proper midpoint for a sprayin', street car, I'll go with 'em. My main question is...

What gear are you guys running and what gear are you hitting the juice?

4.11s and off the line at the track. Go with 4.11s, you wont be sorry. On the street I say just wait till top of 2nd to spray. Just my recomendation.

I run a 3:73 gear and I spray it in second gear. The car is trapping at 123 mph and thats at the top of fourth gear. I know the LS1 engine is a differnt animal, but you want to make sure you dont have to shift into fifth gear if you decide to run at the track.......I dont think I could go steeper in my car. Yours may be different, but the 3:73 is the best gear if your spraying an M6/LT1.

I have 3:42's and can't spray until halfway through 2nd gear on the street on nittos, or the spray blows the tires away. Then again I have a TNT wet kit, which is known for hitting pretty hard.

That's why I did a dual stage, to split up the torque spike for traction purposes. In first after launching I feather the throttle until traction is good then WOT with first stage. 2nd stage has a first gear lock out and comes on at 4700rpm at wot. BFG 315 Dr should be here today and we'll see if I can hit it right out of hole.

Let me know if you have any success w/ the hole-shot....

What made you go w/ BFGs instead of M/Ts?

One more thing, the Z06 1st and second gear are lower than the rest, so it's the same as having 4.10's in comparison to std 6-speed. UPS didn't show with DRs so it'll be next friday before I can sort them out. Stock 295's spun again last night on my one run (rained out).

By having the 4.10's in 1st and 2nd only, a higher trap speed can be achieved compared to having 4.10's all the way through and running out of gear. My limit on n2o is set currently at 6400rpm, and shift light at 6500rpm, and rev limiter at 6800rpm. My first time out was trapping in high teens, but that was with a conservative tune, on/offs, shifting and low bottle pressure. I guess it'll be closer to mid/high 12o's mph with the 3.42's on top.

I have the 3.42's with a progressive controller. That thing works on the street. With the controller dialed in it's a great tool.

Iam spraying with the NOS 5177 (dry) with my cam only car and 4.10's on Nitto DR's 275/40 17's. With the extra 100rwhp there is "some" spin through 1st but the car is accelerating so hard! What Iam saying is that the tires are not going up in smoke. And before you realize it your at the top of 4th!

If your gonna run the car mostly on the street set it up like it is all motor for the fun! Then hang on when you hit it with the dope.

A friend a couple weeks ago ran a baseline 12.6x then with the 5177 jetted to 93rwhp ran a 11.48. I used my dual stage 5177 a few times and this last time I tied to beat my friends 11.48 and toasted my clucth . that's ok, good reason to upgrade. I am running the new BFG 315 DRs and they can barely hold a small shot in first, so a low gear on street tires spraying outa the hole is going be tricky.

if you have a 10 bolt-keep the 3.42's a 12 bolt the 4.11's are nice. i have the 4.11's m6 and hit it from the hole at a 6,000rpm launch. my m&h racemaster tires grip hard. www.intercotire.com i run the 26x11.5x16 cheeter slicks. goodluck to ya. by the way, nittos suck for traction.

i run nittos, 3.42's and m6 car, ive hit it a few times from dig races...feathering the clutch untill traction hits. if my bottle pressure and anywhere over 800psi, forget about it...tires just smoke up...nittos dont hook on the street that well from dig....i hit it a few times with bottle pressure only in the 700's and it launched pretty good..slight wheel spin.

I have 4.10's (in a 12 bolt)and I spray 150 shot out of the hole at 6k. I use 28 inch tall tire at the track to compinsate for running out of gear at the end of the track. Then on the street I use my regular street setup. This works great for me , I feel like I'm getting the best of both world's that way.

I had the same set-up as you on my 01. Don't put a gear in the car. Trying to launch on that nitto with nitrous isnt going to work for you. Running a hidden kit, with a 75 pill, I wasnt able to spray off of the line like at the track or anywhere in first gear. Remember, with the street, every now and then you'll get a road with a lil bump or raise in it and you're tires are going to want to lose traction anyways. I'd definately save the money on the gears and leave that 3.42 in it. Good luck, if you have any questions, PM me...

Try spraying a 50 shot out of the hole, and spraying another 75 at around the 60 ft. you would very impressed with that..
