Default Nitrous timing retard question

Im just wondering what is everyone doing these days to retard their timing on their ls1/6's.

Currently on my z06 I had cartek put a timing tricker on my ait sensor, it does the job but im looking into a better way of going about it. It makes the ait jump to 141* thus retards the timing.

I speak to nitro dave on a regular basis and we've decided on the ramchargers timing tuner (and his independent fuel system). It seems like a better way of doing it.

Now I dont have ls edit or hp tuners so I need a SAFE way to retard the timing under nitrous use, I.E. at the track/on the street, 200shot.

Most likely ill go with the ramchargers but lets hear what you guys use....

Thanks
ANDY

You don't have a lot of options with the LSX platform. They are:

Trick the IAT sensor with a resistor (you already did this)

spray a dry shot

go to a stand alone engine management system, like BS3

get a Ramchargers Timing Tuner

Based on what you said above, your only real option is the Ramchargers Timing Tuner. You could use the Big Stuff 3, but I have a feeling that's overkill. If you have any questions with the BS3 or Ramchargers Timing Tuner let me know!

I have timing tuners on my Camaro and GTO for nitrous use...works great. Get it. In fact, my friend has one for sale NIB for $225 shipped if your interested.

On the IAT, you run it through a relay and toggle switch and arm only for n2o, then no timing pull n/a. You can also replace the set value resistor with a pointotmeter (variable resistance) and dial in what timing pull you want depending on upsizing shot, weather, race fuel. Just another opition for the do it yourselfer.

This is how I'm setting up mine.

Can't the new maximizer 2 pull timing as well as all it's other features?

My recommendation is to use a resistor bridge to trick the IAT like you're doing, but to use some tuning software like ls1edit to ensure consistent timing under these conditions.

Consistency is key to keeping things working right.

edit: nevermind, it was a stupid question and I didn't read. Conclusion: Pulling timing with Maxmimizer II will be easy. All I need to know is how many ohms equates to 1 degree of timing.

Thanks,
somebody

I belive MSD is working on an ignition that will compliment thier coils. I would think that it would also have some kind of provision for N2O/FI among other things. Anyone else know anything about this?

Set up a pointotmeter like above, then log and measure at pot with ohm meter.
