Usually, before I run a system I test it (with engine off - key on) by leaving the nitrous bottle turned off or disconnected and the fuel line disconnected. With the arm switch on, you can hit your WOT switch while someone else listens to the solenoids for a clicking. It will be very audible and you may able to even hear it while sitting in the drivers seat.

You can get a Relay from any auto parts store, I don't know where you're located so try them. Or, if you're not in a hurry, this is a good place for car related electrical:
www.koskowskimotorsports.com/kms - he carries "relay kits" which are very useful.

1) If you have pressure in the fuel line - untighten the connection, then wrap a rag around the connection and use a little bit larger wrench to loosen the connection until apart. It helps to have a catch can or drain pan below this.

2) If you have nitrous pressure in the line, put on a set of gloves, get appropriate wrenches, and loosen the line, the gas will vent to the atmosphere.

I'm sure there are other ways to do this but these are the most simple and easiest to explain.

If you don't have a relay, I'm guessing you bought the kit used. What do you have? WOT switch or TPS? Fuel pressure safety switch? Get the install instructions for your kit (see FAQ thread in this Forum). Make sure you have all the parts and follow the wiring diagram. I was assuming your kit was new or you atleast had all the parts... bad assumption on my part.

After realizing what an idiot i am I do have a relay. And it is installed. I have a new 5177 kit. I just dont know what I'm talking about. I kinda forgot what a relay is..... But now I know. I think I am going to run the power for my system switch from something else cause the switch works untill the wot switch is activated. then i just blows the fuse. I will try something else and get back to you guys later.

I have the fpss, wot, and window switch.

Which fuse is blowing and what else is on the circuit?

Also, you may want to get another relay. You can get them at Radio Shack for like $7. The ones at Radio Shack have 4 prongs and the relay in the 5177 kit has 5 prongs. You don't need the center prong like the one in the kit and the 30Amp 4 prong from Radio Shack will work fine. Mine was damaged brand new in the box and even though it was energized it wouldn't close and fire the solenoids. After I took it out and put the new one in everything worked fine. Turns out there was something loose inside the relay that was blocking the contacts. Whatever it was came free and it works now, but I don't use it.

Here's a link to the switched power source I used.

Don't worry about it, we'll get squared away someday, and/or you owe me one.

Check the wiring on your relay. It really sounds like you have the power contact terminal mixed up with a relay coil ground terminal....

PS as someone already said, you must use the AC setting on your DVM to check the tach signal. The tach is a digital signal meaning it is a square wave that alternates between a higher voltage and a lower voltage. On the AC setting you will see an average voltage....You wont see the full wave but you should see a small change as you rev the engine, probably wont be much.

It's probably just a wiring issue. Even us guys that have been doing this for 30+ years can get frustrated with the wiring. My current set-up dual 5177 and dual ws, was a pain. I thought I had it at least a half dozen times and put everything back together each time. Then no workie, so tear everything apart again and start checking and thinking about what I am doing. Maybe if you start a new thread, there are plenty of guys to help out. try to explain exactly whats up/going on. Good luck.
Robert

Edit: I think Insanekamel got the problem figured out and put it in another post?

I will give you $200 for your problematic kit. Nah, keep plugging away at it, you'll get it then the smile it puts on your face when you hit it for the first time will be priceless.

We all hate wiring, it's tough and if you goof, there can be much sparking and possibly fire.
