Default tuning for n2o

My local shop is telling me they can tune my car to retard the timing when the system is armed. Can anyone tell me how to do this?? Or is there another way to retard it when I'm spraying? My timing is at around 29 right now.

that is a good idea that will be the best thing you can do after installing the nitrous. i have to wait till the fall for the dyno near me to get up before i can tune it professionally, until then i have done a tune with the predator with the timing and fuel . how much are you gonna spray 100 shot should be around 26 on the timing and my fuel i have set at 900 milivolts on first and third banks at wot. but a pro tune is the way to go

If you have a Big Stuff 3 in the car you can set it up to retard timing when the system is activated:

Or if you have a stock PCM installed you can use a LS1 Timing Tuner:

There is a way to use a resistor to pull timing when the N2O system is activated. Do a search; there is some info about it. I'm assuming the shot is wet, as a dry shot would pull some timing automatically.

You can purchase a timing tuner. So you have the best NA tune (run max timing) and then when you spray it retards it.

Example, you could run 28 or 29 degress on motor, then when the nitrous is activated and sprays it will pull the timing back to 25 degrees.

Only negative side, is if the timing tuner breaks or malfunctions and you spray a large shot at 29 degrees bad things could happen. :wall:

They can tune your air temp sensor to read the - degrees when spraying the nos. The table goes that low and you will never see that low of temp under normal conditions. So when it picks up your nos spray it will pull timing.

Yes, just pull it with edit. The thing is you won't be running more timing NA and then be pulling it when you spray that way, unless you re-flash your computer each time.

This is what i did. I had my car retuned. I told the tuner I was thinking about buying a timing tuner. So i had them bump the timing up to 29 degrees. Did a pull, then i had them bump it down to 26 degrees. Did a pull.

Same HP/TQ/ Area under the curve.

So I told them to leave it at 26 degrees. It saved me the money/time of buying a timing tuner for nothing.
