Default MSD Digital Widow Switch Problem

Installed 100 shot today. Problem is with window switch it won't activate. I hooked up the white wire to #10 pin white wire and MSD says to program on 1 cylinder. Put yellow wire on ground side of solenoid. Red + Black - . If I just ground solenoid it works. Also with widow swicth on 1 cylinder RPMs don't read right. Can any one help.

Try setting the MSD digital window switch to 4 cyl.

My old digital window switch went bad so I bought a new one. It was shipped out defective. It does not send the ground out through the yellow wire. PIECE OF CRAP. I ditched it and will never again use or rec. the window switch to anyone.

RPMs read ok on 4 cyl. but still won't activate system. Going to send this thing back to MSD, maybe they can fix it.

The output of the window switch can not handle the amp draw of a solenoid directly connected to it. You will have to use the window switch output to control a relay that controls the solenoid.

I guess we know how YOU feel. Window switches have dramatically helped a lot of people's performance.

The outputs on the MSD Window switches are designed to turn off within .002 second in the event of a short circuit. Also if the temp of the output driver reaches the protection temp the output will turn off. That is why sometimes the solenoid will at first come on and then go away after a short period. The current draw of the solenoid will overload but not short out the driver. It does not take very long to overheat. I believe they are good to approx 2 Amps per output.

At least this is the type of output drivers I have seen used in the window switches. I can not say for certain they are all made this way.

We all have bad luck with something one time or another. I have known MSD products since 1984 or so and have know lots of people with great success. I certainly wouldn't try to persuade anyone to rec(commend) any product they've had bad luck with to anyone else. I hope you found a product that works well for you. Good luck.
