Can I run the wire, "Black wire to motor" to ground and run a single wire ("Red to motor")f rom bottle to switch? Anybody have another wire diagram that they used?

I don't think so...I think you need a DPDT switch center off and cross the outside poles with center posts as +/- DC out to opener...so when one side of the switch is depressed you feed + to make motor go one direction...when you reock the switch the other direction if they are crossed you turn motor in opposite direction...i'lledit with a picture.
