Default Need help installing 02 sensor on 02 Z06???

I am installing a wideband on my 02 Z06. I want to put the 02 sensors ahead of the cats. I am told this is double wall pipe (stock exhaust).

Has anyone done this? I need to know how to deal with this properly and do not want to jury rig it.

I have been told you can drill a hole through both pipes, put a bolt & nut through the hole. Tighten it up to crush the pipes together, and then weld the bung in. If this can be done I have no idea how hard it will be to crush the pipes together.

Is this pipe just mild steel? Is anything special needed to weld it?

I'm sure someone here is smart enough to know how to do this right.

Thanks,

Terry

What I did was have the local muffler shop install mine on passanger side fwd of cat. There is a spot, you'll see it, that it will fit just fine right below firewall and about 5/8's of the way up pipe. don't want it at bottom, or really below half pipe. Took about five minutes and no problem welding. Any good shop knows how to do this and will have experiance. cost was about $30 and well worth it for a good weld job, as I am not the best welder.

Robert: Thanks for the reply.

I have not had time to get under the car yet. Was the pipe double wall there? And if so do you know how they dealt with it? Do you know if there is a similar spot on the driver's side as I have a 2 channel wideband?

Not to sure about other side. As faras I know double wall or not it was no problem putting hole in and welding, as I was right there and they wipped it out. I even stuck the o2 in while in the air.
