What plugs with a 200 shot?

Default What plugs with a 200 shot?

i was just interested what you guys with a 200 shot use for spark plugs and what you gap them at..thanks!

I believe 383 was running tr6's with a 250 shot,
that is what I was running on a 150 and I dont plan on changing when mine is stepped up to 200

I'm still running TR6s gapped at .034. Havn't had any problems.

At the track I usually run a 50/50 mix of 93/104 with 24* of timing. This is with about a 225 shot at the crank. If I backed down the timing alittle more I could probrably run it on pump if I wanted. I've done short runs on the street with the 225 and 93 only, didn't see any detonation and my plugs always look good.

Autolite AR472 gapped .032 -.035

These are the Autolite plugs that have a short ground strap right? I've been wanting to give these a try these but havn't seen much info. Is the 472 considered one step colder than stock or two? How are they N/A?

They are a race plug and much colder than any stock plug. They aren't the best N/A but will survive a lot of bottle abuse.
I've had luck using a CTS tricker and running lean N/A to keep them clean.
The CTS tricker can get you out of cold-start enrichment much quicker that you would normally so fouls the plugs less. A cool running engine tends to warm up slow and you don't need all that extra fuel wetting down the plugs.
When they are clean they make power N/A just fine, but the trick is keeping them from fouling during normal driving.

Hmm...maybe I'll give them a try when I put alittle more nitrous and compression to the car. With the tune I have now, if I run straight 104 the car will load up pretty good at cold idle and will almost foul the TR-6s. How lean are you having to run the car N/A?

Running race gas or higher octane will act much richer and slows the burn enough to foul plugs easier. In your case I know it's the octane and not the actual AFR as read by an O2.

With pump gas I keep my AFR in the mid to high 15's.
Like I said it's the race gas that's fouling yours. It would be even worse with the colder plugs.

For most driving it's better to run 87 octane. It's only maybe 5% of the time at most that you need the extra octane.

Best way to deliver race gas to a street engine is by on-demand like a dedicated fuel system for the N2O. Well that's my opinion anyway.
Race gas just burns too slow for normal driving and can have some bad effects like even making the engine run hotter.
The slower burn creates less kenetic and more heat energy which goes into the water jacket and exhaust. It's not a level of heat problem, but a volume of heat problem.

Yeah I had figured the TR-6s where to cold for the 104 N/A. I don't tune the car myself and it was tuned for pump gas. Halfway through the season I just decided out of the blue to tack on the 2nd stage and I dumped some straight 104 in the car since I though 24* of timing with the 225 was alittle much for just 93 or even a mix. I didn't bother having Jason at TSP retune it. It's fine with a 93/104 mix but I plan to change the set up alittle this season. Maybe I'll do a dedicated cell this year, I'm kinda pulling alot of fuel off the stock rails as it is.

tried TR-7 and TR-8, too cold for me....I like TR6 at .035 for up to 200 shot wet.
