If you freeze it before you fill it you will get more nitrous in the bottle.

If you go to someone with a real refill station there is no need to freeze it. They will get the bottle completly full. Just don't bring the bottle in at like 1,200psi.

The freeze method is old school Transfilling. Its works well as long as the bottle is in the freezer for a few hours at least. Left in over night you could get damm close to a full10lbs. in a 10lb. bottle. The problem is, time. Time to freeze it. Does no good if you freeze it and then take to a shop to fill except there pump will not have to work for ever long.
I used this method at the track serveral times when the old pumped failed. .

Yeah well I would say be careful because I have been able to get more than 10 lbs. just by freezing. That was in the old days, now the NX pump station is handling the refill business. Time is a factor and more people don't like to wait for the happy gas

The guy at a local speed shop put mine in the freezer for a few hours and I came back and picked it up. Another shop just hooked it to the machine. I fill fire extinguishers for the Army at work (same principle) but ours are filled at a constant 70 degrees so there's no variance.

If your bottle is to warm to take a full refill or a refill, just turn bottle upside down and open valve. You'll feel it cooling down, then you can put the remaining few pounds in, works like a charm. Then you'll be filling by wieght and not pressure.

I fill my own bottles at home using this method. I have never had trouble getting a full bottle. in fact it will overfill if i dont warch it. Its not a pain for me I have a huge chest freezer and 5-15# bottles so i can empty a big bottle quickly

A bottle is always filled by weight....

In 100 degree Texas weather putting the bottle in a bucket of ice is sometimes the only way to get a full fill rather than pushing the liquid in via pump and ending up with a super hot and highly pressurized bottle....

Sorry I should have been more specific. I just bought my 64# bottle and have filled my bottle several times with the freeze and fill method. I got 10# in with keeping my bottle in the freezer for about 30 minutes. My big bottle was full however. Im looking for tips on what valves are being used on the big bottle whats being used to heat the big bottle ect.

I like using this rather than a pump. When I do it like this i can fun my bottle down to about 2#s.. When I take it to a place with a pump at 4# all I can get out is air-like stuff. I have a tube and have it up to pressure ect...

I have seen several threads before about people taking about this but cant find them.
