Default Holley black pumps?

I'm putting togethor a standalone set up. Are the Holley black pumps reliable? I know that they are pretty much bottom of the barrel, but it only needs to support about a 200 shot. Just wondering if there was any reliability problems with them.

Andrew,
The Holley Black pumps are fine. I have used them i the past on many systems. Keep in mind they do not come with a regulater. I suggest running a return style regulater..

i was wondering the same thing to day. I am building dedicated fuel system. I wanted to use the holley blue pump. I would like to know if it would be enough to run a 400 shot with this pump. I need a good plate system for my victor jr setup. Could i use the holley blue with a free flow rate of 110gph or is that not enough for a 400 shot

Sounds good Dave. I was planning on running the Aeromotive regulator that's made for the A-2000 pump. It seems like a nice peice for the money.

BTW: How much would your 3qt tank that goes by the fuse box be by itself? I'm not sure if I have room anywhere for a standard 6x6x12.

I'm running a blue pump and spraying 350 and never had any issues.

I am surprised that more people don't run a walbro high pressure system. I would think that it would keep more accurate pressure. Low pressure is effected a lot by alltitude if you race at a mid elvation track like I do.

I'm still considering a high pressure system. I though it would cost alot more to build but I found a regulator at a half decent price so it may not be so bad.

I run a holley black pump, the benefit of a low pressure system lies in the ability to make small changes to pressure and big changes to richen/lean the AFR. It can also be bad though if you drop a PSI, it could change the AFR a point or two.

If you call NX they have jet sizes for a low pressure system. They run on 9-10psi.

I personaly prefer a low pressure directport system. It is easeir to tune and you can get smaller size hp jettings with out making the orfice in the jet so tiny.

Both will work. I just favor the low pressure.

I have been talking with NXricky at length about what pump to use for my Direct port system. I am leaning towards the Holley HP 150 pump, which is a better overall pump than the Holley black or the Holley blue, and it flows more. The HP 150 "supposedly" free flows 150 gph, flows 140 gph at 7 psi, and 136-137 gph at 10 psi. I think that pump will more than support my 300-400 shot.
