me and my friend were talking about this on the way home the other night lmao. It would suck to have to put stickers on the car. One time we got stopped and a cop asked my friend if he was a diver (he saw the 2 nitrous bottles) the other cop goes "no thats the stuff they run in the motors....nitrogen or something like that" I lost it laughing.

Saleen came out with one in 05..runs high 14's and if you fill the bottle you lose your powertrain warranty...

Someone in the street racing forum just posted a news clip of one of those investigative reports on street racing. It was in Arkansas, but in it they had the usual sob story about some mom who lost their kid because they were street racing.

It then said her loss was not in vein because "they" passed a new law banning nitrous oxide in street vehicles. They made it seem like it was a nation wide law and it kind of freaked me out because my pressure gauge and switch panel are in plain view.

In GA bottle line must be disconnected, do they have those cool quick release things for N20 bottle lines? Then you could just quickly disconnect it.

If you had a shut off valve on the main feed line 2 or 3 inches away from the bottle, then you could close that, then quick disconnect the bottle and not that much n2o would come out would it?

As can be the case our legislators do not have all the facts when they start passing laws. If the law states nitrous is illegal on the street then someone who has a 100 shot on his car that may have 300 hp or less to start with is illegal. Yet the guy with the 500 hp Viper or Z06 he just bought is pefectly legal.
Would someone please explain the logic of this to me.

It is too bad the ladys son died but he would be just as dead if he had been street racing in a Yugo.

The nitrous did not kill him, someones bad choice did that.

I have heard you can have it but the bottle must be closed because they can bag you for improper transport of hazard’s materials but if it is closed they cannot say anything so the answer to that is a remote bottle opener.

The whole trasporting hazardous material thing is bullshit. You can transport nitrous all you want. It becomes a HAZMAT issue when you start carrying certain amounts in your car. You dont need markings if you are carrying a 20lb bottle.

This is correct. I forget the exact amount but it is close to 300 pounds (combined weight of gas and bottle) before you need markings stating you are transporting a compressed gas. Plus all nitrous bottles have DOT number meaning they are legal in a motor vehicle. The whole "line needs to be disconected" thing is BS when was the last time a cop asked a guy with a supercharge "hey you got that belt hooked up?"

Well i am glad to know that Fl has no problems with nitrous. I was considering mouting a bottle between the rear seats, but wasn't sure if it was legal to have or not. And even then i mounted a 2 5/8 nitrous pressure gauge in my center air vent, you would have to be blind to miss it.

Everytime I've been pulled over with nitrous the cops are just interested in the system. They ask how much power it makes and how long it lasts and stuff like that. But I've never been hassled about it. I think this is few and far between but that's what happened to me.
