Default Spraying out of the Hole! Help me with this...

I have a Yank SS4000 TC. I have a MSD digital window switch. I just ran in the 1/4 and had it ON at 4K off at 6.3K.

Did I spray out of the hole???? What do I need to set it at to spray out of the hole and is it going to break my stock tranny when using my BFG's DR's?

I am not sure I sprayed it out of the hole on my nitrous run when I raced Saturday I torue braked it and then Floored it on the green light? Was that spraying out of the hole, or do I need to set it lower, like 3,000 rpm for the ON to be spraying out of the hole??

Help me to understand the correct way to spray ou of the hole with my A4.

Thanks

Yep, you sprayed outa the hole, at 4000rpm. Be careful on spraying to much coming out of the hole or you'll be doing this to get at your axle. Ask me how I know what a large torque spike will do to the stock axle. What did you run on the spray?

OKAY that's a 'carnage' pic. Hope it goes back together well.

The term to "spray out of the hole, or out the gate" just means you hit the nitrous as soon as you launched. Now giving yourself a small window from launch to nitrous hitting is most of the time a good thing. Leave your low window where it is and have fun.

Here is my 1/4 run

I think I pedaled it, got going a bit, then mashed the gas to the floor. I don't think I truly sprayed out of the hole.........

OK so when do I spray? at what RPM do I turn it on?????

Remeber my shift extentions are 5,300 so after the 1st shift I am in the nitrous all the time since my Tach only drops to 5,300 between shifts

Well I made over 160 hard azz launches, but knew this was coming as I had an hardened output shaft on my bench. Going to go the full monty while I have it apart.
Gary, is your rear and stuff upgraded?

Robert,

I have a stock Output Shaft and a stock Tranny (2nd stock tranny free under warranty hrough a buddy) and also don't have a DTE Brace.

Do you think I should just keep running my Vette until the tranny breaks, or would you upgrade before the tornado takes out the barn? (not sure where that analogy came from )

I have seen several break atheir output shaft at the track. My car has 150 passes at the 1/8 and 1/4 track and has 19,800 miles on it and is now 5 years old.

I might get a Tranny from Rodey from the CV Forum eventually.

What do you suggest??????????????

Thanks Gary

Well the auto trannys are a little more forgiving that the 6-speed, however, you may also be on borrowed time. spraying through your shifts will put the most wear/tear on tranny, so you may want to consider an upgrade. I am also considering Rodeny to do my trans, even though no problems, but at the hp level I am heading... The DTE brace is a god send if you break something, cause it can torque the trans and diff and split both cases, a very good investment and should be considered even if nothing else is done.

I wouldn't spray it at too low of an rpm, might cause flooding

So if I have a 4000 Stall, Like I Have............

When is good to spray ON for out of the hole? (3,000....4000??)

Also if I don't want to spray out of the hole and since my shift extentions are 5,300, should I set the Nitrous to come somewhere between 4,500-5,300??? This was I am spraying in first, but just after I hook up.

That was I can launch out of the hole, hook up, get some speed, then the nitrous would hit, and after it sprays at the TOP end of first gear, for the fact above that I stated that my shift extentions are so high, i.e. 5,300;the nitrous will spray ON after everyshift thereafter since MY RPM's only drop to 5,300 between shifts.

Is that clear as MUD?????
