What new fuel? If the fuel is cut with ethonal its going to swell the fuel solenoid.

The government now requires the additive MTBE to be replaced with Ethanol for fuel How much Ethanol has to be present for the plungers to swell?

Since when was this put in place.. I think if that was the case we would be seeing a bunch of problems by now.

I think they just added a small amout not enough to hurt any thing I have heard about them puting in ethenol to replace mtbe but i assumed they wouldnt just screw every one and use enough to make all the seals in the fuel system go to ****.

Most ethanol blends are 10% ethanol, 90% gas. I have seen quite a few pumps that don't even say that it is blended.

Yup thats right 10% now! I think only time will tell.
Also, nothing to do with piston swelling, but one of new englands top LS1 tuners, (slowhawk) is saying that he is cutting back on timing on all his tunes because of the ethanol too. He has a post about it in the eastern section.

Ethanol has been in the gas in the midwest for a while now (several years). I would think if the small concentrations mattered, we'd have seen some major problems by now.

gasoline can contain up to 10% and still be sold as standard gasoline.

its been used for the last few decades thruout the entire midwest without issue, so i seriously doubt we're suddenly going to see huge problems.

It won't let any fuel by. I had a problem with Sunoco 94 awhile back because of the ethanol content. I switched to a nitromethane compatable piston and it has been fine (TNT PP noid).

Yep, crazy part is the nitrous hit normal with no detonation or anything then it started to feel alittle "flat". I look down and the O2s were reading .050mv. I can't believe the motor survived.

I just had a Problem with my NX Fuel Silonoid piston swell up causing a way to lean for comfort problem. Found out it probley caused by the ethonal in the fuel here in Houston. I switch to Race fuel just in case for now until they find a solution....

Yeppers, I have been hearing of more and more swelling issues. We should now be servicing noids a little more often? Ricky says that NX is working on a material which will be more compatible with ethanol and other coming/allready in place additives. Most of the country is now 10% ethanol, and talk on up coming new cars that will run on 80% ethanol. How that's going to work, who knows?
