Default How much timing do YOU pull?

Well, I've got the kit on my car, and I pulled 4* on a 75 shot, just to make sure it worked, and be safe....definitely works...

Will be upping to a 150 shot, and I know the rule of thumb is 2* for every 50, but I was just wondering what YOU did.

BTW, this timing tuner kicks *** lol..

I am running 28 degrees on a 150hit on a trex cam, 93 octane. 26 degrees on the 200hit.

i was running a stock timing map for the 150 hit- it was fine with minimal kr (at most 2* of kr). i recently pulled 2* out on activation /4000k to 4500k rpms/ and 1* out in the top end / 5600rpms to 6000rpms/.

4* out is way overkill, do some logs and see how much timing you NEED to pull out, 2* was more than enough to be safe in my car.

i have a different map for na, which is mostly just alot leaner, and 30* of timing up-top.

The reason I asked is that i'm just hit my wet 75 shot with stock tune on my 04 z06 and it was pinging like crazy. I must be missing something.

Shoots Will, I used to run 150 shot on 28-30*, depending on race gas mix, or all pump Of course thats what I consider on the edge, kr there and your risking a lot. FWIW, I reduce my timing 3* per 100shot, and leave it that way for NA...what difference? If you dont race NA you wont notice any difference. Good luck man.

Who's doing your tuning? I'm running a 224/563 cam with 28 degrees timing N/A. I'm so confuzed now,I mean my car runs great but maybe a little rich right now but I just got a timing tuner and I think I might try to play with the advance first on motor. Before I've been restricted to a RWTD tune and I couldnt change the tune very much at all. I also think I'm kinda rich because I've fouled 2 oxygen sensors and when I pulled them they were very black and had lots of soot on them.

I'm running TR6's, and I figure I'll pull 4* on a 150 shot....we'll see what happens ....I use a timing tuner to pull timing and act as a window switch though. The window switch comes in REAL handy in a 6-speed car lol.

Stock for 99 is ~27* @ .76g/cyl, not sure beyond that airflow wise, but I am sure it would drop down, I think it goes to 22* or something at like 1.05g/cyl. Havent seen a stock tune in years.

Will, when Harlan comes out with his new 2 Step, get one. I have a brand new Harlan 2 Step from his original design. But he is trying to integrate new features into the new one. It will be worth it. Y2KHawk is SN.

I see allot of people saying how much timing and how big of a shot but not how much octane or what type of fuel they use. Myself I'm running a 100hp shot (at the moment) pulling 5*(IAT Tricker) from 28* for a total timing of 23* on nitrous. I have a total octane of 91 N/A and around 95 on nitrous.

Above post on 93 pump gas. I'm already on a fairly fat tune w/62 psi FP at idle/58 psi @ WOT. A splash of race gas and 28* on a 100/-2* on a 150 for the track.

My car makes nearly the same power with 24* or 28* timing NA so i set it at about 26*... Ill run 24* when I spray....alot of timing is not needed with my setup....

I do my own tuning. On that set up, 93 octane, I see no knock at all. I could probably add in a couple of degrees if I wanted to. And I spray that bitch all the way to 7000rpm. I am moving up to a 250 shot soon... kinda sorta trying to kill the motor.

Well, cam only, stock compression with a 100 tnt and 93 I ran stock timing of 28 degrees. With my new motor and a 200 shot with 93 and 11.3:1 i'm running 24 degrees.
