Wiring on bottle heater getting hot
It's the NX automatic heater.
Use the 3rd chart down in the following link. Pick the amps in the 12v column then go over to the length of wire you are using and it will telll you what size wire to use. Do this for the ground wire also.
If you have 12v or a ground wire that is carrying more than 1 circuit then total all amperages that the wire carries and use that value to choose the wire size.

If you don't extend the green wire they supply I hope it is of the proper size. If the wire is not very big it would be good to shorten it if you can. As you can see from the chart the shorter the wire of a given size the more amps it will carry. They tell you to keep the relay close to the heater probably because the green wire is not very big. The instructions don't tell you whet the amperage is nor do they say what size fuse to ues.
I think they advertise that it is 400 watts which is 33 amps. I suggest you call them and ask.
The wire from & to the toggle switch does not arry much amperage. So the 18 ga. is probably fine.
