Thats probably the biggest problem you had. You arent the first one to destroy some internals by not swapping plugs.

Funny, I hear different views on the plugs. Some guys have run 20+ bottles on the 55s and others say TR6s only. I just don't want to rebuild the top end again any time soon. Lord knows the damage the bottom end gets with the gas. I can say that I love the feel the NOS gives of power on demand. Now if the tires wouldn't just go up in smoke when the bottle comes on. The axle doesn't hop, the tires just fry. 11.5" slicks under a pickup and not enough traction. I guess I need a softer compound tire.

Maybe 20 bottles of like 50 or 75 shots. Search and you will find a few threads of guys melting plugs with the stock heat range plugs.

Its common sense that the extremely highe cylinder pressure from the nitrous will cause much higher cylinder temps, and if your plugs cant give off that heat fast enough they will melt.

It's all that came with the NX kit. If those kind of things are truly necessary, why the hell doesn't any NOS company package them with their most common kits? I am a newbie to NOS and had no idea how important that was. I know now. Sorry, I wasn't born a genius, I had to learn via the school of hard knocks since that the manufacturers don't think it is so important. I read these forums for quite a while before I went to NOS. I saw the gauges for sale but never thought of the pressure being too high, figured that the bottle valve regulated it somehow for how much it cost to buy a valve. Believe me, $700 worth of parts to repair the damage isn't exactly my idea of fun but I have learned a lot from the experience.

BTW, this wasn't the whole kit from from Dave. It was the intake connected to my NIB NX 20920-10 kit and purge.

I would think you had a lot of factors that helped your backfire along. Correct them all mentioned above and try again. Most nos kits come with a gauge on the bottle.

I agree on the safety stuff being included. But only a few kits have the needed extras. But still even those you still need colder plugs and a window sw. Sorry about your miss hap, but we all have had something thrown our way concerning drag racing and unexpected $$.

You could have bumped rev limiter.

also it sounds like this kit is mixed and matched. is it a NOS kit or a NX kit or a combination of both? when you start mixing and matching brands(ie 1 nos noid, 1 nx noid, the nitrouswerks jets, tnt nozzles, etc), you are asking for trouble. it seems also that you have no way to control the rpm engagement and disengagement electronically. you already took care of the plug issue, now just get a window switch and components from the same brand and that will help prevent a repeat of this in the future.

I don't see how you could call this a mixed and matched setup. It's 100% NX 20920-10 kit as stated earlier in the post, if you read the entire post before posting your response. The only thing not from the original kit in my installation is the moneymaker intake built by Dave's crew. For all I know the internals could have come from NX since the parts are available to the general public.
