Well said. Through my own experience I would also like to add for those who are experimenting that a stand alone fuel system just for N2O is also a wise choice and piece of mind. Take the time to get all the right pieces in place don't cut any corners what so ever and over kill is not always a bad thing it can also save your engine. As the wise man said above "" If ya can't pay don't spray"".

Im an A4 H/C/I and put down 417rwhp 407rwt.Im thinking of doing a 75-100 shot on top of what i got.should i be concerned or should i just go with a 50-75 shot.stock bottom ls1.Will rod bolts help, should i be worried about the stock pistons at those levels?
Okay,so I'm getting Katech rod bolts put in.Car is in the shop right now. Will I be safe for a 100shot? everyone says go for it,but want to hear from you guys

I have had 2 '98 vehicles with stock shortblocks and 300-350hp worth of nitrous with over 60k miles on the clock. Might of burned a strap on a plug every now and then that's about it. Was just seeing how far I could push the stock fuel system/Walbro pump set-up.
Tip: '98 stock pistons actually have a thicker top ring land than a 2001-up.
Heres a video of my 70k mile stock shortblock/300 shot car 1.30 60 footin on the back tires. It is a prime example of how far on the ragged edge the tune was. The air was so good out there that night I actually got on the lean side and burnt my first plug (watch at the end of the pass) Notice it looses a plug before the win light comes on and it still ran a 9.70 on that pass. I just got a little greedy and really wanted to beat the guy so I jacked up my bottle pressure to about 1175 after the purge!

TCI 3800 blower, NOS converter w/lockup
Stock 10 bolt w/3.73 gears, and a TA Cover this 10 bolt has been 10.4's in the 1/4. No whining at all!
Exhaust:
Hooker LT's, A.I.R Welded closed.....no emissions
Custom Y-pipe
3 inch cutout
B&B Tri-flow cat-back
Engine:
Jackson Motorsport Forged 347 shortblock
Diamond Forged 10.5-1 pistons
Eagle Rods
Comp Cam 234 236 on a 112 LSA
5.3 liter fully ported and polished heads
Comp 918 Beehive springs
Comp Hardened stock length push rods
Yella Terra 1.7 Rockers
LS6 Intake
Ported and Polished stock TB
Smooth Bellow

What kind of compression are you looking at? Seems pretty built, Id hit it with the 250 jets it has now and see how it does and make sure A/F is on point along with timing and it should be fine. Hell...Id hit it with a 300 if the 250 seems good!

My buddy's '03 Z06 is currently putting down 664rwhp and 564rwhp on bonestock longblock LS6, however this is with turbos. The reason I bring this up is, the torque of the turbo comes on so progressive and late in the rpms that you can get away with more over all hp compared to a nitrous set-up. Though a nitrous car can be set to mimick a turbo curve, as shown below. Really it is the low rpm torque that does the damage more often on stock blocks, not the HP. I finally busted a ringland on stockblock LS6 with 665rwtq @ about 3200rpm. So multi stage (my choice) or progressive can allow a higher overall HP by limiting the low rpm torque.
Here's my buddy's turbo set-up, check out how slow the tq comes on, and how late the torque peak comes, compared to some of us that have the mega tq spike down low.
and here's the turbo/nitrous overlay showing n2o can be set-up like a turbo (these are small hits just for reference, but you get the idea). Mine was dual staged, while Joe's was not.

I can't see the images; however, if they are dyno graphs, keep in mind that they do NOT represent how the turbo car will act on the street... In 4thgear on a dynojet, if I keep my catback on, I can only make 10psi, and that is at the very end of the pull.... in 4th gear ON THE STREET, I can make 15-16psi by the mid 2K-rpms....
But not to detract, I totally agree that the nitrous torque spike is much more violent.

Cam only 4.8 truck 49k miles spraying a NX single nozzle pilled at 200 bottle pressure 1050.
Pump gas,timing at 25.
Runs 7.9 @90 in the 1/8th in a 4800 lb truck with a sorry 1.90 60.
Going to pill it up till it runs out of fuel from the stock pump.
Never dynoed it.

I sprayed it with 31* on the 200 shot by accident and it didnt hurt anything.Didnt run very well or pull much past 5500.

You guys that think gobs of timing is what nitrous likes, are dead wrong. On top of that, your pushing your luck with that much timing in a safety perspective. You'll learn after your first meltdown. Now, just because joe blow says, I was running 40* of timing and a 250 shot and it hurt nothing, yea maybe, once he lucked out. If ya plan on any serious dragging/runs, pull some timing out like your supposed to, or it could be fatal. Even N/A, you only put in enough timing to get max power, not until KR like most think. Max timing is not max power, or rather you don't need max timing to get max power.

Am a new to NOS and have been absorbing all I can!
My question is in regards to the ecu's you guys use and the tunes. You would have a map/tune for the shot you are running at the track and do you use another map/tune for street duties?
I am about to embark on fitting an LS1 into my nissan 180sx and am thinking of using NOS to drag race with. My previous 4 cyl had an EMS 8860 ecu fitted and this can be setup run an LS1 and I am able to save various maps on the laptop and drop em in when needed!
Thanks Andrew

i run 22deg timing, 150rwhp nitrous, h/c/i/e ls1 and pump fuel... no problem... run consistent 10.6x@130.xx mph in my heavy 3800lbs transam!
