nitrous oxide gauge question
I plan on putting my nitrous pressure gauge in the hole once occupied by my stock radio (see pic below)... I'm going to run the fuel level gauge on the left and the nitrous pressure gauge on the right....

Okay my intention was to run two bottles on the deck (most likely 15lbers) with a Y into one 4AN line.... then underneath the carpet near the passenger side seat get a "T" fitting with two 4AN sides and one 2AN size (the 2AN will run to the back of the gauge) and the 4AN will keep going to the engine compartment to the nitrous solenoid for the direct port....
Okay so now that I've laid out my "intentions" what is the legality of this???? I planned on running the mechanical nitrous pressure gauge but i'm not sure if NHRA rules will allow it cause if the gauge exploded you'd technically have nitrous spraying out of the gauge into my face.... Will I be FORCED to use the electrical pressure gauge or just put a gauge on the bottles and be unsure of what pressure i'm purging down to???? I want to run the gauge up front so when I'm staging I can purge the system down to 950psi to avoid blowing my **** apart......

I would like to know this as well. I have my mechanical nitrous pressure gauge in the a-pillar. I don't know that the gauge could actual blow up though. The nitrous stops at the back of the fitting on the gauge. I could see a leak at the fitting or something, but that would not blow in your face. Nice job on the radio delete panel. It looks alot like mine here Gauges
thanks..... yours looks great as well..... I actually have the whole dash done with custom gauges.... I can't see the thing actually blowing up in your face but that's why the NHRA has these rules cause IF it was to blow up you'd have nitrous spraying into your car and face..... not a great thing to have happen.... so i guess we'll see.... here's a pic of the whole dash with the camera backed up....

not too tough to do... I actually used the stock plate that holds the stock speedo, odometer and all the stock gauges. stripped it of all teh electronics, drilled the holes i needed with a hole saw and then upholstered it using speaker enclosure material with spray adhesive..... worked pretty nice and blended pretty easily. I was expecting some wrench throwing but it never turned out like that

hopefully... or else I'll have to order the dyno tune digital n2o pressure gauge..... i just want to keep it all autometer so it looks extremely clean.... thanks again for the compliments... yeah these pictures have gone around when people occasionally ask for pics of custom gauge setups....
Hmm I never thought about this, now I want to know too. I didn't even realize you could buy a electronic pressure gauge for nitrous. So my theory is that a mechanical gauge is legal inside the car cause autometer dosen't make a electronic gauge. I'm just throwing that out there on a limb as that they make a electronic fuel pressure gauge but no electronic nitrous pressure gauge. Just my theory.
hmmm that is interesting. i thought they did make an electronic nitrous pressure gauge.... the dyno tune idea is a possibility as I do like their 4 dip switch nitrous control center gauge.... and on the other side I could use their digital nitrous pressure gauge (which does have a sending unit).... The price kills me as it's double the price of the autometer but then again when you wanna play u gotta pay..... i'll wait a few days and if I don't get any answers i might go the dyno tune route....
hell now that I think about it I'd probably have the added 70 bucks (the autometer is like 85 and dyno tune is 150) in the T-fitting, the extra line, and extra fittings to run the nitrous up to the gauge.. not to mention the nitrous I lose after relieving the pressure when done racing.... didn't think about that fact...

Autometer definetly make an electric nitrous pressure gauge. They make them in almost every series of gauges they make. They cost around $200 so they're more expensive than the mechanical ones. I don't know about the legality of the mechanical gauge, but how could anyone tell anyways if you plan on running it the way you plan on doing. If you feal that it could be a danger or it's needed to pass tech spend the extra $$.
