I did some thinking last night, real hard.
i have a new plan. im taking the season off, playing with sleds this winter, and coming back with a mild motor setup. somthing i can race without braking the bank to build, or costing me $1,000 every trip to the track.
verry few people are going as fast as i am, so very few people know what it takes to do what i have done. those who have not gone as fast dont have much idea of what it takes, how much time effort, money sweat and tears.
the people that have been there, done that know what i mean, and im sure can respect it.
as for me, i need a season of racing that doesnt cost me $30k, if i can throw my 402 back together with a set of new pistions, throw a gear in the car, and lossen the converter and run 10's on motor for a season, that gives me a chance to throw 30k into my bank account, and put down on my 2 family i want to buy, and gives me a fun car to drive.
im retired from trying to brake ls1 records. atleast for now. lol

Good move Brad, you'll probably enjoy the whole racing thign alot more when nothing more then some fluid and a plug changes are needed to keep the car going for a few seasons with a decent level of consistant performance. You have a great car that is well set up and light, it won't take much to get it to run a respectable # on motor.. hell you could probably go with a pump gas buildup like I am and still get your car into the mid to low 10's I'd guess.. and not have to worry about breaking anything really.
Everyone has thier certain point that they just need to stop at before it's not fun anymore, you've found yours and are doing the right thing, backing it off a notch so you can go back to enjoying it... a very wise move, as I think I'm doing the same, stopping now, getting the car legal for whatever it runs when it's done, and that's it. if it runs 12.50, fine, if it runs 10.90 fine, I just want to be able to enjoy the car, and be able to take it every now and then and go race at a bracket day, that's it.
Maybe an improvment here and there, but they will probably be limited to when something breaks, or a really really good deal happens to show up... not in the effort to get faster.
Congrats on a good move, and good luck with it!

Full exhaust and plates.. and it runs in the 10's on motor.. who'd be better then you? Exactly where I hope to have mine, plates on it, runs in the 10's on motor and on pump gas.. and that's it.
Bracket racing's not so bad either.. you dont' break much doing that!

Noyzee i feel your pain i hear ya loud and clear on trying to tweak these motors and setups.I have also spend so much dam money in my setup and still trying to get it to the track.Ive destroyed one motor this year and if the next one craps out im going to be thinking just like you with putting in a more mild setup and just street drive it and have some fun.I had a lot of fun with my 346 last year.
