the 4l60e is JUNK. don't spray it through the shifts or it'll burn up on you guaranteed. a window switch is only like 100$

+1 ive seen peoples 4l's dying on 75 shots through the shifts, yet others on 150 run fine for a while with a window switch

WELL! 2 WHOLE bottles through it? it must be bulletproof if it held up to THAT MUCH JUICE!

i don't give a **** what anybody does with their car, i was just trying to help. what do i know anyway.

i have my spray shut off about 50rpms before the shiftpoint- which i tune in with hptuners. you HARDLY feel it and it saves the 3-4 clutches for the most part..

Spray thru the shift with a 200 shot on built 4L60e at 3800 lb race weight and run in the 9's without any problems.

I plan on joining you in a few weeks in the 9s

If it were not for gas prices I would probably drive it every day and not just a few days a week

I remember speaking to chuck and vince over at flt this past spring when I got my built trans. they even told me not to spray through the shifts. if thats what they say about a built trans i would be terrified to spray through the shifts on a stocker

heres the thing.. a window switch doesn;t stop you from spraying through the shifts.. the nitrous shuts off and mid way through the shift as the rpms fall the nitrous comes back in.. so in my opinion.. if your running a stock trans.. i would try not to spray the shifts.. but using a window switch for that function is not going to solve your prob unless you either time delay the reengagment or pedal a little..

Hmmm...
Robert

Edit: Oh yea, I used to spray through the shifts on my '98 coupe and had no problems, but was shooting small. Not large 200 shots like Ellis, and myself also (did I spill the cookies)?

same experience here, told that by EVERY trans builder i've talked to.

the window sw shuts the juice off, the trans engages the gear and right as you are "in" that gear it hits again. so it DOES shut it off while the trans is shifting, but your auto has to shift fast. on a stocker/no shift kit/tuning i agree you would need some sort of time-delay for most cases. i wiped out some high clutches on a stocker after ONE spray run because of this.

you see when the trans engages 3rd (which is where you are gonna run into problems, most times you can spray through the 1-2 and you won't run into any trouble fwiw) i was told the band has to unapply and the 3-4 clutches have to apply. no matter how well built your trans is it takes a second for this to happen, and all of that torque is just waiting to unleash on the clutches. you have it shut off and it gives the clutches at least a little time to slam together before that massive torque is applied from the juice.

the 1-2 shift happens much faster and harder so you have less of a chance of slippage on the band.

just my 2cents anyhow. you can't even really tell it shuts off the way i have mine tuned- more you can hear it shut off (sound of the motor) immediately before the shift and then you can feel it hit again like .25 seconds after it shifts. i'd bet i don't loose more than .2 from using the window switch, and i loose more than that from weather differences so no biggie in my eyes.
