Default Will bottle brackets scratch up your bottle?

Yeah I have some bottle brackets that came with my kit and they do not have any rubber on them there just pure metal. When I put my bottle on the bottle bracket and tighten it down will it scratch my paint on my bottle? If so what do you guys do to prevent this? Thanks.

I went to the fabric store and bought some thin black felt like material with a self adheasive back. I just cut strips of it and put it on the brackets.

Thats a good idea, but do you think it would have scratched it up if you hadnt done that?

The only real solution I ever found was to just use a bottle blanket. No matter what, after many bottle changes scratching/scuffing will take place, however, the pure steel mounts are the least desireable.

I don't know for sure. Maybe not if you are careful. It sure made the bottle easier to rotate and slide back & forth to get it how you want it before you tighten it down.

I have tried that method a few different ways, but, after a while the heat from the b/heater would loosen sticky and then a mess and scuffing would ensue. The guys with nicely painted bottles must have to be very carefull?

So basically the only solution is getting a bottle blanket? Where can I get one from? Also, do you put your heater on the outside of the blanket or under the blanket?

Heater goes on the outside of bottle under blanket.

We have other blankets also.

i know the zex bottle brackets come with rubber inserts around the "straps" which helps a little. one of my friends bought a billet bottle bracket (from a sponsor, forgot which one) that bolts to the bottle and stays on it. the mount has 2 quick disconnects and releases the bottle, his looks perfect.

Wow those nx bottle jackets are expensive as hell. Are they a lot better than the other bottle jackets?

The NX bottle blanket has a better insulating material and it wraps tightly around entire bottle.
The remote n2o pressure gauge is electric, so then you can run it in a pillar mount or where ever you want. The gauge on the bottles are mechanical and require a braided hose to be run, so not real good for a dash mount. I like having a gauge on my pillar, this way I can monitor pressure and turn on/off my b/heater while in line for a run (no transducer).

The one at top of page is a mechanical, 20/35 dollars. The comparable electric gauge down lower on page is 199.99.
