Nitrous bottle in a hot car?
would it be okay to leave a nitrous bottle in a car all day? or would the pressure get too high? i live in texas so its not too bad right now, but during the summer i imagine it could get 150*+ in there

I was actually wondering the same thing. It was only mid 80s the other day and my bottle pressure reached 1250psi sitting in an open parking lot (school). I cant imagine what will happen during a 105+degree day. It would be a shame and a waste of $40 if my burst disc decides to give away.

I have a black bottle also, mounted on the hump. The pressure gets up to 1500 during the day, In the spare tire well it goes 1200-1300. Now I just leave it on the hump and keep my car cover in the back, throw it on when I get to work, pressure stays below 1200. FWIW I had a bottle overpressure and rupture (> 3000 psi) when I left it sitting in my driveway.

I lost a full 10lb. bottle of nitrous when the NOS bottle valve couldn't stand the heat and leaked Now its so loose, the valve just spins freely and doesn't seal at all. It was fine when I filled it
Lesson learned, no leaving bottles in the trunk in the Texas sun.

I live in AZ and with a full bottle the other day at school when I got out at noon (not even the hottest part of the day yet) the bottle was at like 1300psi on the bottle gauge. Was pretty crazy considering it was out of direct sunlight and under a floormat mounted where the rear seat was on the pass side. I would definitely never have the bottle in the car during the day (at least full or half full) during the summer where it gets 120*+ outside and like 150*+ in the car. It's nice having a gauge on the bottle now though so I know what it's doing.
