Just wondering if anyone on here knows if having a nitrous system in your vehicle is legal or not in Michigan? I am originally from Ontario (Canada) and there it is not illegal yet, but they are passing a bill strictly aimed at street racing which states you can have a nitrous system in your vehicle as long as the bottle is physically disconnected from the rest of the system and cannot be reconnected from the driver's seat What's the deal in Michigan???

Generally in most states it's slated for off road use only which would mean you can not have the valve open within reach on the road

I may be wrong though, anyone care to chime in?

its legal to have in michigan. you just cant be caught using it on the road.

So it is OK to have system fully installed, bottle connected, and ready to use, but you just can't "use" it on the street...is this correct?

If they want to give you a hard time they will most likely check to see if the valve is open and if it's within hands reach it prob has to have the line disconnected

utah says that the line has to be empty. i actually got pulled over by a UHP and he checked out the system and actually PRAISED me for having metal bottle brackets and having everything tied down nice and secure. the bottle is on my rear shelf in perfect arms reach to open her up.

nope, the guy was one of those cool cops (i was surprised because ive never met a nice UHP) just checked it out, commented that it looked good and it was nice to see somebody with it installed correctly, and let me go on my merry way after giving me a fix it ticket for my black out tail lights
