I've had 3 A4 cars (2 SS's 1 V6) that I have sprayed on through the shifts.

My first SS was fine on 150 the whole time.
V6 car ... well that car got traded in with a major tranny problem - converter would stall to (stock converter mind you) 2500 with the foot to the floor and the trans wouldn't shift until 4500 no matter what i was doing.
This SS has been fine so far, but I backed it down to 100 until I get a th400 for the car, then I'm upping it to 200-250 and spraying from the time my foot hits the floor until I let up

If your spraying in that window you will be fine. I spray from 3-5800 on my stock tranny, but mine only shifts at around 6k with the factory tune...Have fun and dont get addicted!!! Yeah okayyy!
