My old and trusty NOS heater works just fine. I brought mine way back in the early 90's and it still works fine.

Since you already have a heater. I would get a bottle blanket maybe a adjustable pressure wswitch. I can not see a big enough speed difference to go from 240 to 300 watts and justify the cost. Im sure the 300 watt heater will be faster but keep in mind it will also draw more amps from the car. So you have your pros and cons both ways.

If I were to change Heaters the 860 heated bottle bracket gets my Vote...... The aluminum transfers heat fast with less amp draw and it has a adjustable pressure switch as well.

This is just my thoughts. Many vendors here have a good selection in bottle heaters... many are pretty comprable.

Is it possible to run two heaters like for instance a NX heater and the 860 brackets and tie them both into the same pressure switch?

I've never tried that, but you would have 465Watts of heat on tap!

I'll fit a bottle up and see if they actually fit together.

Now the real question is: if they do fit togather how fast will a 465watt draw kill your battery in the staging lanes?

(two heaters)

Run seperate power/gnd wires. If you load up one set of wires, you'd better be using something like 8 awg wire.
240 watts @ 12v = 20 amps !!!!

Yeah, even if the car is running; hot bottle in about 2 minutes, but an even hotter alternator, and battery! haha

What is the width of an NX heater?

The distance between the straps of the 860 is 7-1/4".... does it fit?

You don't have to pick up a new heater kit; you can just pick up the Revolution heating element and wire it into your current system. Should see a big improvement.

I tell you my experiance. I run two 240watt NX heaters, and they put a load for sure on the battery and/or alternator. I have seperate wirining, relays, fuses. When I first hooked both up the first thing I noticed was my voltage would drop way down. Well, the battery wasn't up to par, and the alternator was trying to supply the two heaters and recharge the comprimised battery. The heaters would kill the batt dead in no time. So, I got a new Optima and now the voltage stays pretty stable, but trying to pull the amperage needed for heaters with out car running is still asking for a dead battery.
So, for those thinking of dual heaters, the NX is a better choice for the smaller amp draw.
A 300watt heater will heat a bottle in about 80% of the time it takes a 240watter.
Another area to look at is the transducer, this can also effect which heater you may want. We carry the NX heaters (240watt) and the CF heaters (300watt).
I have seen Matts heating sheet/specs and it does show a faster heating. Dyno Tune has a great price and a transducer that varies by only 50psi concerning on/off.
Lots of choices and things to think about on a seemingly easy subject.
Robert

Make sure you have at least two 10lb bottle blankets Dave! I've been waiting for another sale that I can take advantage of!
