Default Nitrous System Maintanence

NXRicky just helped me discover a problem we can all probably avoid with inspection and maintanence. I has some rust areas forming in my purge solenoid. I was getting bleed through of the purge solenoid. I have a garage kept and fairly clean car. I'll bet some rain or hose water seeped into my purge line and sat in the noid? (I used to use vacuum line rubber covers on my purge line outlet but I guess I became lazy and quit) It simply occurs to me that that lack of maintainence on any system is foolish. I'll be pulling my solenoids apart every six months or so to check them for contamination. Not to mention capping off my purge with a rubber again...cheaper than a new noid!! -- Macon

I pull mine apart every time I spray to check the seals. Very good post, good info.

Personally i'm too lazy for that and probably overkill - but I'll bet race teams do as well. I did go to NAPA and spend $3 on a pack of vac line caps. Ricky has sent me specific instructions for cleaning the noid. Nitro Dave was VERY helpful on the phone as well. Just another of my 100 reasons to say thanks to Nitrous Outlet and the boys as well as NX and Ricky. Both are the best hands down.

The vacume caps are the key. Its easy to get water in the purge tube.

Wow, I was just thinking of making a post like this, this morning. Is there anything else you guys [Dave, Ricky , etc.] can recommend as far as solenoid/line maintenance????

I too have had this problem from washing. caused the noid to seize open and lost the whole bottle. I have a dual outlet, so caps don't work. So, I did/do two things. If I remember I put a piece of tape over the purge nozzle. But what really has saved my butt is adding a high spot into my line, then the water dosen't reach the noid. I allways spray a tad after washing and it gets rid of any getting down the line and catching at the "P" trap.
