Default Purge with dry?

How essential is a purge with a dry kit? Thinking of selling the zex setup I have here and getting the NOS LT1 dry kit. Wondering if I should include the zex purge if I sell the zex kit, or keep it.

Purge is beneficial to any nitrous setup by giving you consistant hits.

Don't waste it. Save the spray for your engine unless you are after consistancy.

I have done it both ways but usually just hit the NOS at the finish line for just a bit on the last NA run before I plan to make a NOS pass. This clears the line and you would not believe how good it feels on the top end pushing the button.

It is fun to purge it at the line as well!

What I really use the purge for is to bleed the line pressure down when I am done racing so the system does not stay pressurized.

(Slightly) Off - topic secondary question:

Couldn't you just close the bottle, activate the system, and then drive the vehicle at WOT within the window switch parameters (3k - 6k) to perform the same function (i.e. - purge the line pressure w/o a seperate "purge" set up?)

I see the function of the purge system as being similar to a bottle heater, or pressure regulator; all 3 are there ultimately to make the system function in a controlled, consistant fashion.

when i ran a dry kit i didnt use a purge. I hit the nitrous in the burnout box and that purged the line. On the street its a minor inconvenience I would just pop the throttle a couple times or do a burnout to purge the line.

Great421,

Yes you could do that however dragstrip really don't like you jumping on the throttle in the pits to bleed you NOS line. If I plan to run more NA I just close the bottle and hit the NOS at the finish line on one of my NA runs.

WOT it during the burnout. No purge needed.

Alright, thanks for all the opinions and input. I'm thinking I'm going to sell the purge then, should make the zex kit look more appealing, maybe I'll get a few more dollars out of it.
