What kit and where to put bottles on a C5 interesting w/ pic
So I decided the hell with a cam/head project and going for Nitrous
There are just to many kits available and I could spend hours reading (as I have). I think for saftey and a clean install I am going with a 100hp plate kit. So with that decision out of the way, I need to know where to mount my tanks. I will also include a pic of my trunk currently. so here are a few questions I have. My plan is to mount a 2-5lb bottle on each side of the trunk for both the kit and show.
If the tanks are mounted permanently can they be filled in the car?
will the vibration from the stereo affect the bottles?
I want chrome bottles. OBX are cheap but are they safe?
Are any bottles CARB legal?
without bottle heaters what negative effects can I expect.

Yes but it call for a very special filling system. NO pump because you would not know what the wieght of the bottle is. So you are left with trans filling. Might not get a full fill each time, but enough to have fune.

No.

Chrome bottles will crack over time and will not pass hydro testing. The bottle expands and contracts with the nitrous. Go polished and just keep them wiped down. To help a polsihed bottle stay looking new and clean, wax the bottle with a quatity wax and polishing cloth. The wax layer can be wiped many times, and still be protected. It will stop the bottle from oxidizing.

DOT yes, but CARB?

System will run rich, and your system will not perform properly. Highly recommend you get a heater setup, and bottle openers, so you can play without having to manually open the bottles.

Thanks for all that infor Ricky. How would I go about getting a custom system for myself. Also with bottle heaters do they actually wrap around the bottle? I will go with the polished tanks like you suggested but I would hate to cover them. My intentions are to make it look awesome for shows. I figured the plate syem is the cleanist so that helped me with that decision. Would bottle openers really be needed? Hell if I had to I could just reach back to turn it on. HAHA With that said if I had 2 full tanks could I just turn on on if I were ever challenged on the street or would they both need to be open?

Get ahold of the 860 heater from Nitrous Outlet. That heating plate will be under the bottle and should not take away from the looks you are trying to achieve. You will need to confirm that they fit a 5lb bottle, I do not know.
If you can reach them then naw you can do it yourself. They might get you a few more points in the show application.
One bottle at a time you would kill pretty quick depending on HP you want. 100 shot will use .8 lbs. ever 10 seconds and a 5lb bottle only has real world usage of 2.5 lbs then the pressure drop comes into play. Also what if you forget which bottle you have been playing with. You might open the dead bottle and have some mustang or worse an import get the better of you. lol
I would open both bottles.
