Default Hardline Questions

I guess my main question is there a difference between the mild steel brake lines you'd find @ NAPA or O'Rileys compared to the stainless lines you'd find from a sponsor. Would there be any advantages or disadvantages in using the regular old 3/16 and 1/4 inch brake lines? I suppose I'd be interested in learning how one would flow better or worse than the other or if the brake lines could wistand the high n2o pressures? Thanks in advanced, Mike.

The brake lines can handle the pressure. Under hard braking your brake system may actually have more pressure. The main difference is stainless wont rust, but you already knew that.

Stainless braided lines were developed because of the hose expanding (or flexing as some call it) under harder pressures thus making the pressure inconsistent. By not allowing the hose to expand, the pressure remains constant and equal. Now, onto the difference between "mild steel" and "stainless". Mild steel has a lower hysteresis (memory to return to it's original state) than Stainless. If the metal flexes, or expands, it will have a small amount of permanent stretch. All of this hardly means dick in our little world. They both do the job, just that the mild steel lines are a cheaper way to do it. Stainless is a better way, and as noted, more environmentally sound.
