Is it common to have this happen to a gauge? I'm not knocking HSW for any reason, I just want to know if possibly this is a common issue.

Look at the needle, it swung past the stopper.

Wow I've seen plenty of broken gauges through my work but I've never seen one with that high of pressure go below the stopper. Normally when I see a gauge like that its because someone has put it on something with a higher pressure than the gauge can handle and it busts the bourdon tube, that is the tube inside the gauge that when pressured moves the needle.

Unless the gauge had ~1100 psi on it and then it expelled rapidly causing the gauge to skip below the stopper, thats the only other feesable option I can come up with.

Send Matt at HSW an email, he stands by his products 100%.

Ive seen that happen when a guage got knocked around , like during shipping. Was the guage installed when it happened?

Pop off the rubber plug thing to vent it and see if that fixes it. Don't lose the fluid tho! hehe

quick question...was the gauge ever frozen...some people will freeze the bottles before filling. This can be hard on the gauge when they are shocked with the sudden pressure from the fill.
