needing headgaskets for the buildup. anyone using them and having good luck? what was the part number you were using? summit's website is a bit hard to read to make sure i'm getting the RIGHT ones.

to get my quench where i'd like it, i'd need to use there .043 compressed gaskets (.008 out the hole).

see alot of people using the MLS gaskets, but at a .054 compressed, that quench area is awefully big if we are supposed to be aiming to get it around .035ish.

Try Going To The Sce Titan Gasket Directly. Im Using Them They Are Really Strong. I Got My Part Number Directly From Sce Website That Is Really Easy To Read And Ordered Them From Summit And Got Them Direct From Sce. It Was Like A Two Day Turn Around. My Friend Was Runnig Them On His 408ci That Blew Dew To Detonation We Think The Piston Melted Before The Gasket Went Out. That Shows You How Strong These Gaskets Are

 

I am using it and got it from Jegs because they had in stock. SCE Part number is S11954LS.

 

sweet, i thought i read somewhere that you are supposed to permatex some areas. did you do this and what areas where they talking about?

 

I sprayes the whole gasket with cooper gasket sealer for extra protection.

 

i have used 4 sets of these on ls cars and a couple on stangs. the ls cars all seeped exept the ones i used copper spray. i like the mls much better. i damn near kiled my motor do to #1 cyl leaking water into the hole. kicked back real good. broke the starter in half!!!!!!!

will never use them again

 

I was not able to use the GM MLS gaskets do to my heads having the notch in them. I hope I won't have any problems with this SCE gaskets taking in consideration they are $$$. The GM graphite gaskets worked OK with a 225 shot.

 

Noyzee, how far outta the hole are your pistons?

with how big those gaskets compressed, it just puts me out of my safety zone, but it seems EVERYONE is using them. so is your engines quench just not taken into account, or is everyone's pistons sitting out the hole .015 or something

 

i donnt remember it was a while ago, but i know they seeped and leaked water and filled up the hole

 

Stay away from SCE headgaskets. I didn't even have a chance to start the car. I added coolant and bouth headgaskets leaked. What a waste of $225.

 

If anyone needs a set for their 346, I have a set laying around. I would of used them in my build, but I ended up going with a 402. This is the first time I am hearing about them leaking.

 

Ive only heard of them leaking on boosted applications, where they pull coolant. The stock MLS gaskets blew on my buddies procharged motor and he was only running 10lbs.

 

Cometic MLS work great for us.
