Seems that you can get better fills just freezing the bottle and filling it. The price of a chest freezer is far less than a pump.

I think just filling a styrofoam cooler with ice and water would work pretty well. Those things can get really cold and the cost would be relatively cheap. Provided you have a freezer with an ice machine.

No way of telling how "cold" a foam ice chest is with ice. Also, the idea of a bottle heater out of the car will have little effect on a 56 lb bottle. After many hours of trying to heat it, you'll find the aluminum will dissipate the heat faster than you can warm it. HOWEVER.. wrapping it in a water heater blanket would be a great idea. 65 deg is a little chilly. I think it's 80 deg gets you around 950 psi. (someone correct my figures if they're off)

My local nitrous filler has an ancient electric pump that he can put 10# in my bottle at any temp. He says its one of the most reliable ways of ensuring a true fill. Ive been trying to scope myself out one, so I could just start buying mother bottles, but have had no luck.
This also ensures a complete empty of the mother bottle, so there isnt any wasted gas.

this is true...we use a big *** meat freezer filled with slushy ice water,,usually can fill a 10# inside 40 minutes....in the ice longer i can get 11-12#'s in a 10#er...

When I had nitrous on my talon I froze my bottle. I would stick it in the freezer the night before. Splash a little water on it so it had a nice lair. The shop I had it filled up at charged a set rate for a 10lb bottle. So I would get barely over 11lbs in a 10lb bottle and it would cost me the same. It was pretty cheap also. I believe about 25 bucks for a 10lb bottle.
