Default Engine Temperature Rise with 150HP wet shot

Hi guys,

I have a 1998 M6 LS1 Z28. My car has forged bottom end apart from the crankshaft, an aftermarket camshaft, which is installed by the car's previous owner and hence I do not know the specs, and stock heads.

I sprayed a 150 wet shot through a power ring kit and found out that the engine temperature increased rapidly from around 170 to 240-250 range during only one shot I sprayed from 2nd gear to 5th gear. Is this normal?? I had to wait like 5-10 minutes before the temperature decreased back to 170ish. Do you think I should decrease the shot or is this totally normal?

Tried a search and could not find anything related. Your help is appreciated, as I do not want to blow up the engine while spraying Tnahx

.

Not normal, u better check cooling system, belts, something. It will spike, but I never had that, or any of my buddies I help spike like that. Be careful, good luck.

Eeek. Have you checked to see if you blew out a head gasket, any oil in coolant or vice versa? If you're losing pressure in the cooling system from this, especially with the extra cylinder pressures when spraying, it could cause localized coolant boiling and thus overheating.

Thanks for the input guys, I am getting your comments and will have the car checked on the weekend. I hope it is just a belt slippage...
