I am spraying a 100 shot on stock timing. But I am running E-85 so I am less prone to knock I would think.

I was spraying 100 on stock timing until this past week. Didn't have any problems with it, but figured I go ahead and get a tune while it was in for headers. Keep in mind that this is with stock heads and cam. Any mods to these would definitely require a tune.

I thought the rule of thumb was 1 or 2 degrees per 50 shot. Others tell me 150 doesn't need any timing changes.

i was told, years ago, by NOS tech 1*/50hp. if you were to look at the stock timing tables, you'd see a dip in the timing down to 23* in the 4000 rpm range, then back up.

So, am I right in saying that you dont need a tune, if your spraying on a stock motor, up to 150? Is that safe? Or should I worry?

I pulled 2 deg and had TR6's with a 150 on a L98 motor. I just followed the directions. I never tried it with stock timing.

Just a thought related to this thread:
Most people with a bottle have modded a few things on their car. Enough that they surely have gotten a tune by the time they get a bottle. Which means their timing isn't stock.

I sprayed a TNT 150 shot on stock timing for the LIFE of my 99 Ls1 motor....114,000 miles. At that level a colder plug is more important than reduction in timing.

Is timing more important to be pulled on the low end or the high end of the rpm band? I figure when you are spinning higher on the top on end would the engine not be breathing less n20 than say when its is activated @ 3000.

What does your timing curves look like? What is your max timing on say 5500+.

How much timing is "stock timing"?

I have 26 degrees now with a tune and will be spraying a 100 shot. Should I have the tuner back it off any?

26 degrees seems low to me for n/a unless he tuned some knock out.
