Default Low mph with 150 wet shot

Heys guys,i am getting a headache from this car. I must be missing something big with my setup. I only trap 115 in the quarter on a 150 shot wet kit and thats after gutting the cats, adding Borla cat back wideopen with a Dynomax bullet in I pipe. Air lid,and vig 3600 stall. Problem is i ran 115 mph with everything stock except spray and nittos last year. wheres my mph? any ideas???? I want 120 plus,is it in the manifolds(need headers that bad?) Thanks.
Dave

Dude, Borla and a lid isn't going to give you 5+ MPH. Plus, I've heard that converters actually hurt your mph a little. Converters are good for e.t., not mph.

It might not really matter to you, but I think your numbers look good man.

Dude....Headers are the most important thing you can do with a sprayed car. Long tubes should be in your immediate future. Nothing makes nitrous shine like good headers. I think your losing 7-10 mph without them. Not to mention some ET.

I run Hooker Super Comps, with true dual configuration, using Dynomax bullets and turndowns. Its loud, and pisses of the neighbors...I LOVE IT!!

Nick, thanks for your compliments. Your right, convertors that loose are not that efficient. My goal is to trap 120 plus and i thought i would be closer than that. Now want LS6 intake with Long tubes and y-pipe,Then tuned for all of it.

Fast SS , thanks for your input. I hope to gain that 7-10 mph with the above mentioned mods and tuning. Even thinking about the 2002 LS6 cam install, would be nice to hang out in the 450+ rwhp zone. Just dont want to get too crazy with my toy car. Most people already think i am nuts for wanting any more power than it has now. Oh well its my sickness not theirs, right!

Thanks again guys.

Definitly do the long tubes first. Any power adder needs big exhaust, the stock manifolds are your biggest bottleneck.

You are not that far off. But yes, headers would help.

I've only made two nitrous passes in my 6-speed Z28...with a lid, cutout, and 13x dry shot it trapped 118mph on both runs. 115 seems a little low...especially if you are running on radials.

N2O-75shot :11.89@109mph.150shot:12.22@120mph on DRs
Ummm, I think I'd be happier with the 11.9@ 109 then I would be with a 12.2 @120...

I have not gone back to the track since installing New drag radials(315/35/17's) But i do have a set of Hooker long tubes with custom y-pipe coming also running a 4" round flowmaster with turn down on that system. Getting set-up from "Coach" on this board. He went 11.01 @ 123 with this exhaust set-up ALL MOTOR. Also Speed Inc gave me est for Cam: 224/.581/114 with tuning. So i swear if that will not get me my 120 mph i will get rid of this car and race my f-ing motorcyle only. This is like a drug addiction!!! Never enough.

had to let off on that pass thats why mph was low.on e.t streets also no rollbar at that time.was afraid of getting banned from the track. just sandbagging for now until this weekend for the install.

I went 11.59 @ 121mph on a 150 shot. Maybe you're running pig rich. A good tune couldn't hurt.

Good man!

Nothing worse than going 11.5 and getting booted out of the track, just to go and install a heavy space taking roll bar that U will almost proably never need if U are safe!

I agree....we hate roll cages in street cars...but, a flat tire or some broken wheel studs at 120 mph is good reason to deal with the hassles of a cage. I agree with the "if you are safe" part....it's the unknown that will get you every time. Don't get me wrong, I don't like "having to cage it", but live to race another day!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck and keep the shiny side up!!!!!!!!

Considering your N/A trap is 106 MPH, then 115 MPH is not that low. Not having long tubes is probably costing you 2-3 MPH, that would put you about where you should be with your current set up.
