True, but not as common. I have had a few back fires through the traditional plenum above the runners, cast steel, center location carb intakes, and all have survived. Two problems on the efi cars conspire to cause a bad explsion, plenum below the runners, so mix has a harder path to follow and drop out ensues; the entry point is at the front of the intake which when a backfire starts expanding no easy escape, so it finds the path of least resistance which is through the plastic walls (sometimes metal or aluminum).

Guys are you saying one should not spray through his expensive ported fast and should get Edelbrock EFI Vr Jr intake to be on the safe side.

No not really. Just keep on top of your kit and tune, or go dry. Backfires are not an everyday occurance.

well i had the dry my self and now I went wet so I need to tale it to the track to see how it work I also got the car tune for wet gas will see and I also have the 90/90 set up

i run a ported fast with a nick williams t-body, i have run one for years now. with a 400 direct port and now with a plate kick.
so far so good. the burst pannals do not work. i saw an intake with them blow up, and the bottom was in perfect condition, burst pan and all. lol

a back fire will distroy any intake.
the fast is what i would run on any street car or even race car witthe 600-700 number in mind.
i will be going with a vic this winter on my car, but with the big power and big cubes, i need it now with a big t-body on top.

More of the same...I use a Fast 90/90 Nick Williams and a Nitrous Outlet plate with a 200 shot.

It's just an intake anyway. It's not like you're holding a loaded and cocked gun to your head. Be smart and informed and you'll have a bunch of fun.

I am just now swapping to a DP after 3 years of nozzles and a plate. I didn't even buy the burst panels. I doubt you'll find a better choice for an intake for what its sounds like you are doing.
