I don't believe a fire extinguisher will stand 3000psi witch is what the bust disk fails at so the bottle must with stand that or better ,And nitrous bottles that Ive seen is D.O.T. approved and stamped on the bottle and pressure tested. >>>>SO BEWARE<<<< If you had a bottle rupture in your car or while filling it you may not live to tell about it.![Bomb](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_bomb.gif)

as long as the hydrotest is still valid on it and such, feel free to go ahead.. obviously im not referring to the one use trash ones, but the real, reusable C02 extinguishers... all the stampings should be on the bottle to tell you.
if in doubt, have it hydrotested.

I wonder if anyone makes custom bottles? Would be nice to have them made in a certain size and shape to fit perfectly in your car. Maybe a box shape instead of a cylinder, that kind of thing.

Not a good idea IMO. Not all fire extinguishers are the same. Not all neck openings are the same diameter and same threads either. Unless your REALLY have experiance in the field or industrial gasses...it would be alot safer just using a bottle intended for the purpose.
Dont get me wrong...I have used tons of stuff that I "made" into something usable. But I have found through experiance...most of its junk when compared to products that where intended and designed for a specific use. The stuff is already out there made for you...may as well use it. IMO its not worth going through the effort to find a suitable bottle, hydro it, source a valve with the right threads and then find out that valve is a POS...lol.

are you trying to be cheep and save a couple bucks or are you doing it for concealment. honestly ebay has bottles on there all the time for fairly cheap, probly the same price as getting it tested and finding all the hardware. if its to "hide" just paint it to match and tell everyone that the blowdown tube is the sprayer.

I would think that a nitrogen 60 bottle would work, thats charged with 2000psi at the commercial supply houses, or an Oxygen bottle of the same or smaller size they're charged to 2500psi.
Though it has the ability to work I do not condone placing nitrous oxide in anything other than a container approved strictly for nitrous oxide.
