Bottle heater power
Bottle heater power Where are you guys hooking up your power for bottle heaters? Just splicing in the ignition wire or what. I know it draws some current and I am on my way home to hook it up any good advice thanks

You would want to see how much amperage it draws and throw a correctly sized fusible link between the heater and the bottle.
Battery -> Fuse sized accordingly -> Relay (with switched coil voltage) -> Heater

i got mine running off of my amp main power wire. it's a massive wire, and the only time i'm using the bottle warmer is when i got the sub and amp out of hte car at the track anyways.
might not be the most preferred, but it saves me from running a million 12V lines all over my car.

I wouldnt tie the bottle heater into anything else, it draws 21-25 amps depending on the voltage. Most bottle heaters are 300W. Just run the power from the battery or the distribution post on the drivers side and fuse it there and run 12AWG. 12AWG is rated for 25 amps and its a very short run so its plenty. I havent heard good things about high current switches so I would recommend a relay for that, I am doing the same setup. I would just put a 30A fuse in there.
My battery is in the trunk and my bottlke is between the seats. I run a big *** wire from the battery to the relay which is placed under the back seat, it leaves me only like a 5ft power wire to run.

Nice, you wouldnt need to run anything bigger than 12awg from the battery to relay, although it wont hurt anything. 5ft of power wire before the relay but you still have power wire fromrelay to battery...not to nit pick, all the relay is doing is completing the "power wire" circuit with a switch. I assume you fused the power wire? How did you mount your relay under the seat, or did u just set it there?
