Thanks Vince!

I changed my plugs recently and ever since I've had a surge at idle in gear, I think I may have damaged a plug wire also!

vince-when you had a bad plug wire, didn't you get a check engine light due to a misfire code???

He did get an SES light that quickly went out. I believe it was when he was swapping PCMs for TShooting. I would be interested to see that code actually. I bet your right about misfire.

Orange Crush...Just and FYI if you are getting surging at idle or partial power...but are fine at WOT its unlikely its a plug wire. The more air and fuel you pack into your cylinder the worse an ignition problem will become. What is barely noticable at idle should become pronounced at WOT.

Did you hear anything un usual from the bad wires, like a ticking sound? Not the AIR tubes or exhaust, but from around the coil packs? Did you see any arching?

Actually...after eliminating everything else and turning our focus to ignition....Vince remebered that the guy who welded his air tube on the header noticed arcing. Of course it all makes sense now...but troubleshooting doesnt always go the way you want.

Good point 383!

It is just at idle in gear, everywhere else it is just fine, but I did notice it right after doing plug change.

I have had my TR6's gapped @ .35 for almost a year now. Finally dynoed the car this weekend...
355/360 motor and 445/485 on the 100 shot. Do you think I can gain a little more power by gapping them to say .42 +/- a few?
