Default Stock timing?

Hi,

After talking to Dan at Dynotune, I've decided I want to spray a semi small (100-125) shot of nitrous in my car. However, I heard that I should retard the timing since it was advanced via a tune from PCMFORLESS. My question is, does anyone know the stock LT1 timing or how many degrees would be safe to operate at?

And if someone could answer whether or not an MSD 6AL could do this would be great

P.S. He said I wouldn't need to upgrade the fuel pump or injectors since the shot isn't very big, but is there anything I could slap on to make it as safe as possible?

you checked the sticky up top to see what all else you would need to make it safe, like window switch FPSS....stuff like that

I know and I asked him about it and he said he didn't suggest those for a 100-125 shot.

I was just asking for personal experiences on a size that shot.

If the timing has been advanced, I'd drop it back about 5* across the boards.

The window switch is a good idea too, I would recommend it...

Thanks

And an MSD 6AL should be able to do this? Or should I just have Bryan do it since he tuned it originally?

And yeah the Window Switch seems to be a little bit of insurance, so I'll pick up that and maybe a purge system since it's hovering around 100 degrees here lately, so it would be nice to kick some extra pressure out after it sits in my car in the sun all day

The 6AL cannot adjust your timing alone. If you dont have a MSD timing box, then you'll need to get it de-tuned...

the MSD 6Al does not have built in timing retard...but they have an add on module MSD-8680 $131

or you can get the Mallory 685 ($244) and sell your 6AL...the 685 will do every thing the MSD will plus it adds timing retard, 2-step, and has a built in window switch.
