Default rough idle. safe to test system?

my idle is a little rough when the car is in gear. some times its not after i've been running it, but when it sits at a light longer it starts to run rough again. i figured it was a misfire so i changed the plugs. helped a little. i changed the wires about a year ago. im woundering if its the A/f ratio. it might still be a misfire but it is probably the coilpacks. its not throwing a code. soo... i just got a new system and i figured i would throw it on there. i eventually want to get it tuned, but when i put it on i want to test it. i have an 01 ta with exaust, !cats, lid. stock timing i assume.(the car came with no mods) i want to run 100 shot.

i figured i could run the 50 shot when i get it on and see how it takes it. is this a bad idea because of the idle? or is it ok to try it and also move up if it takes it ok? i also thought about doing the resister thing to pull some timing. i will be putting TR6's in when i install gapped at around .35 sound good? its a wet nx kit with a fpss and a tps

Well just my .02. I would not spray until I was CERTAIN my NA performance was indeed correct. What if you do have an intermittent misfire? This could lead to a cylinder going BOOM! (very dramatic) LOL. There are certainly some easy thing in this situation to check without spending goobs of $$ as well. Check wires with DVOM for continuity and ohms of resistance. You mention the TR6 plugs, now is the time to install them while checking them wires, before you spray and yes gap them at .035, heck it's only $20.00.

What if you have a dirty clogged injector causing the rough idle? Bad enough you are running a cylinder lean NA...now you're going to shoot N2O in that cylinder too? Bad idea!

I'm not sure what to say about coil packs, perhaps someone else will chime in...suffice it to say, my opinion is be sure you have a solid foundation prior to spraying, it will not only net better N2O performance while spraying for 10 seconds...but will provide better performance on 99.9 percent of your driving experience.

Good luck!

well i did change the plugs right about 2 weeks ago befor i bought the kit. i also have TR6's i will put in b4 i spray. should i try some injector cleaner? how do i get a hold of a DVOM to check the wires? or maybe o2's? i know someone who can tune that has a wideband, he wants 125 standard tune plus 50 to tune it for nitrous. that seems pretty good. i can also get a dealership style diagnostic check for $35. should i try that?
