Default Alum pistons ok for spray?

Not sure if this should go in here or what, so

Yeah. Just wondering if forged aluminum pistons are fine to use with generous amounts of nitrous. Im fairly certain total hp added would be less than 300. And does anything matter, like the distance from the center of the pin to the top of the piston or anything like that? I know I should have them ceramic coated, anything else?

I think all pistons are aluminum.

ALl pistons are aluminum...its just a question of what type and how much silicon is added....As well as dimesnions and ring setup.

Your best bet would be to call some of the good psiton manufacturers like Diamond, JE, Wiseco. Ross etc and ask em what they have for you.

Most regular forged pistons will handle a 300 shot though.

You can also call some of our sponsors that build engines like Erik Koeing at HKE>>

Thanks, learn something new every day, and thats why Im here instead of on my board asking this.

I was under the impression they were made of something else, not sure what exactly, but knew they have different amounts of silicon in them, and hypereutectic werent going to cut it for me. I already got a quote from Wiseco about a forged aluminum set, and probably get an email back tomorrow from JE for the same thing.

The other day a guy on the board asked if he could hook up his fuel supply for his nitrous to his current system (he has a rising rate fuel pressure regualtor). I figured a guy that put a turbo kit together would know that nitrous needs a constant fuel pressure... Sometimes I just have to hit my head on the desk when I read posts over there.

So yeah, thanks again guys!

.

Lower the rings, must have in my opinion for a 300 shot. I'm a big fan of heat coating pistons.
