Default Wire guaging

I know the Solenoids should be heavy 10 AWG wiring and so should be the primary hot leads directly to the battery. However, can the entire system be 10 AWG? Is too thick a guage bad ... say for the FPSS and the WOT switch ... thinking that low amperage peripherals should be maybe 16 guage or similar.

Is there a general rule of thumb as to what guage wire I should wire up my nitrous setup with?

I don't see why it would hurt. I like to run my entire system all the same gauge wire if I can, so I used the same gauge as my solenoids on the entire system. If anything it should help keep the wires cool, since the draw will be over a larger wire, rather than trying to cramp the same draw on a smaller wire. I haven't had any problems on any of my wiring stuff, and I use 10-12 gauge on everything (trans brake, trans cooler fan, and nitrous/bottle heater)

That makes a lot of sense to me. I'm about halfway through the wiring now and wanted to make sure I didn't have to go back though and do it over again. Anybody else taken the same approach?

It won't hurt anything. Just a bit more cost than you need and sometimes harder to route in the control panel.

While you into the wiring, DON'T use those stupid "vampire" connectors that pinch through wiring. Use crimp type connectors, and make sure there isn't any exposed wiring.

Thanks. That's what I've been doing. I have a really good electrical tool that strips, crimps, cuts, smashes all differant kinds of wire and connectors. I'll take some pics as the installation progresses. Still trying to figure the best way to do some things. And still got a long way to go. Hopefully, this weekend I'll find a route through the firewall to run the wiring to my switch panel and bottle heater/transducer ... bought some 1K resistors for the guages today, as well, so, it's progressing along OK ... just wish it was done and tuned already.
