Default Will i loose HP on Motor?

First off i am kicking the nitrous idea around a little bit, my mods are in my sig. Now i was thinking about running a 150 shot, and i know i will have to get my car tuned for the bottle. When i get tuned for the bottle will i loose any power on motor? Also what kind of power can i expect to the wheels?

Well generally they will pull a little bit of timing. 2 degress for each 50 hp if i remeber correctly. Timing is power so i am sure you will lose a little bit of the bottle.

I dont think you'll be able feel the lose of power because it will be minimal but i'll be able to tell u soon because i'm going to nick for a tune.

I've heard various things ... anywhere from a loss of 5-25 HP, so, I ordered a timing tuner so I can get the most out of the motor from both tunes with the flip of a switch ... NA tune and nitrous tune. They're a little pricey, but, I've put too much cash into the car to be spending $2,000 only to lose HP on my street tune.

I foget what the average cost per HP is when spending money to make HP gains. I do know that even a small HP loss from retarding timing by 6 degrees would cost be more than the price of a timing tuner, so, I broke down and bought one. Just my .02 worth, FWIW.

a lot of dry shot guys (like myself) simply take out all of the timing based on the increased "air" registed by the maf. i can keep my timing advanced right up to the point where i know my car can't breathe any more on its own, and then beyond that (.74 grams per cylinder for me right now), i take out a bit of timing. when the nitrous flows through the maf, the grams/cylinder reading jumps and timing drops.

with a wet kit, yeah you are going feel the power loss from switching to a dedicated nitrous tune.

What is your set up? I haven't decided which kit i want to go with. I was thinking about the TNT F1 Wet Kit. And JEB99TA are you talking about an SCT tuner? Also with a 150 shot what should i expect to the wheels?

Trent, just get a timing tuner. nitrous outlet has it. It's 250, but it's the only way you can not lose any power on your na tune. Other then that, you can run 100 in your tank, or run a dedicated fuel system with like c16 in it. it's cheaper in the long run to just get then tuner, but you'll probably wanna run on 100 to spray anyway, cause you'll get the most power out of it.

As for power you'll get, it depends on the kit. Most now are rated at the wheels, so you can expect around 550 ish if you have all the accessories to get the most power out of your kit.. ie: purge, bottle warmer...etc.

i just got mine done and lost just about 14 hp pulling 4 degrees timing but gained 65 hp off a 75 dry shot took it to the track friday and dropped a full half second off my best NA time. i lost maybe a tenth with the N2O tune NA but it was worth it

now its time for some DRS and bump the shot to 100

jermzz is on the money. I went with the timing tuner from Nitrous Outlet, but, it's on backorder for about 3 weeks now ... still no definitive word from Chris on when it will be here.

if you go to a good tuner they should be able to write two tunes for your car. the N/A tune will be your high octane tune, and the nitrous tune will be your low octane tune. then youre low octane tune can be activated when the IAT sensor see's whatever temp the tuner sets it at to change tunes. i believe mine is set at 32 degrees.

that is how mine is tuned...
